The candidate will be a member of a multi-site K&S team that develops and sustains semiconductor assembly equipment.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the design, development, documentation and testing of mechanical subsystems that is part of a high-performance semiconductor assembly machine under development. He / She will take a leading role in communicating with our development partner and coordinating the joint development activities in the mechanical and mechatronic area.
• Lead root cause analysis team on escalation related to process/machine problem affecting application by providing and recommending solutions
• Serves as project lead or technical expert in multiple subsystem or aspect of machine performance.
• May oversee a small module design team and coordinate the completion of designs and documentation from concept to production stage
• Analyzes, designs, and tests electro-mechanical systems for high-performance multi-axis robotic semiconductor manufacturing equipment and process equipment.
• Performs analysis and calculations necessary to ensure designs meet requirements including performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost targets.
• Create product validation and evaluates prototype designs against requirements, performs testing, documents and analyses data and write reports.
• Lead fabrication/build of prototype and production systems
• Work closely with Electrical Engineering and Software teams to achieve module performance
• Manage overall Bill of Materials for the machine, as well as related accessories and kits.
• Manage and coordinate integration of multiple subsystems and modules into the overall CAD model of a large machine with >2,000 unique components
• Leverage various software tools and lab equipment to collect data
• Provides customer facing troubleshooting and support
• Performs risk assessments and analysis

Knowledge & Experience requirements
• Minimum 8 years of precision mechanical engineering design or related experience
• Capable of using 3D CAD solid modeling tools (such as NX or ProEngineer), Finite Element Modeling (Nastran or equivalent), and MS Office tool4
• Ability to perform analysis related to thermal, fluid, motion, vibration, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to perform testing, write reports, and evaluate prototype designs against product requirements.
• Knowledge and application of system design involving multiple axes, servo, pneumatic actuators, stepper and other drive/sensing methods.
• Ability to interpret requirements and Design tooling according to customer’s specifications and requirements
• Full design cycle experience, from proof of concept through prototyping, development, and commercial realization.
• Strong ability to perform machine trouble shooting and testing
• Knowledge of materials and production methods.
• Knowledge of low volume manufacturing methods and mechanical engineering standards including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
• Ability to perform detailed analysis related to motion systems and mechanism designs.
• Ability to supervise and lead small teams
• Ability to travel upon request
Education Requirements
• Minimum a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or robotics engineering, MS preferred
