Staff Electronic Design Engineer
**Job Description Summary** BD is looking for a highly talented and experienced Electronic Engineer to lead the electronic/software-based subsystems of connected drug infusion platforms and beyond. As part of the Pharmaceutical Systems Business Unit, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and integrating connected health and electro-mechanical drug delivery systems. You will work closely with multi-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions, ensuring compliance with global regulatory standards and maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and product quality. **Main responsibilities will include:** + Develop a deep technical understanding of all drug delivery solutions (device architecture, System Engineering, critical to function parameters) and develop the right partnership model internally with New Product Development teams to drive an efficient integration of Digital capability (“built-in solution”): technical requirements, tradeoff management, interface management. + Drive circuit-level hardware design phases, including architecture and design, component selection, schematic entry, board bring-up, and integration of complex printed circuit boards and assemblies into systems/instruments. + Perform architectural design or refinement of high-level product concepts. Envision potential solution embodiments and engage stakeholders with Riskiest Assumption Testing (RAT) or Minimal Viable Prototype (MVP) approaches where appropriate. + Evaluate and implement designs to ensure all regulatory requirements (IEC, FDA) are met throughout the design process. + Generate design specifications and test protocols and execute testing and associated test reports. + Participate in technical design reviews to ensure electrical design integrity and safety are achieved. + Develop and implement test procedures to verify design operation and compliance with international standards, e.g. CE/EMC. + Actively mentor associates in related technical roles. Provide technical direction and frequent feedback. Participate and assist in their success. Continue to improve technical skills and help associates meet expectations. **About you** + Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent. + 10-12+ years’ experience in embedded electronics experience, medical industry preferred, with demonstrated success developing software-based electromechanical systems (sensing, communication and control) with working knowledge of complex algorithms and application development for digital health applications. + Experience interfacing hardware peripherals like sensors, motor drivers, etc. + Experience with electrical drawing packages like Altium, SolidWorks Electrical, Eplan, etc. + Experience in EMC testing, including Immunity Testing, Capacitive Voltage Emissions, Current Probe Emissions, ESD Testing, Transient Testing, Radiated Emissions Testing + Experience in AC/DC, DC/DC converters. + Experience developing firmware using Communication protocols – I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc in an embedded environment. + Knowledge of global business with an intense focus on healthcare and medical technology. + Experience independently leading system architecture or innovation initiatives. + Expertise/experience in the following areas is favourable: Integrated Circuits (Analog and Digital),RF systems, Feedback control systems, IT interface and middleware, Wireless protocols, and Application/software development is desirable. **Click on apply if this sounds like you!** We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
