Staff Associate
The University of Maine System is accepting applications for a Staff Associate. This position will work in the Shared Processing Center on the University of Maine at Orono. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide administrative, professional, budgetary and operational support to the Director of the Shared Processing Center Operations and the Manager for Loan Processing and Receivables Management. This person will be involved in the generation and implementation of office goals, policy, and procedures and will be responsible for all aspects of mail processing. Work involves considerable internal and external contacts; hiring, training and day-to-day supervision of the Administrative Specialist, CL1, temp position(s) and SPC student employees; difficult non-routine tasks; access to confidential information; and administration of department policies and procedures . Independent judgment, initiative and discretion are exercised daily in answering verbal and written communications and in interpreting departmental policies and practices. Work is performed under general rather than specific instruction. This individual plays a role in assisting with the supervision of the SPC operational budget as well as departmental purchasing and expenditures. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This position reports to the Director of the Shared Processing Center Operations and is an integral part of a dynamic team. Salary: The normal hiring range is $40,000 to $45,000 and is commensurate with experience.
