Staff Accountant
Description We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with expertise in Power BI to join our client’s finance and accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, advanced proficiency in financial analysis and reporting, and experience utilizing Power BI to generate business insights. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy combining their accounting expertise with technical data visualization tools to optimize business processes and reporting. Key Responsibilities: + Prepare, maintain, and analyze general ledger accounts and financial reporting statements in compliance with GAAP. + Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), reconciliations, and journal entries. + Utilize Power BI to create and maintain financial dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support decision-making. + Provide actionable insights derived from Power BI analytics and ensure data accuracy and integrity. + Assist in the month-end and year-end close process, including accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand financial reporting requirements and propose solutions leveraging Power BI functionality. + Support external audits through the preparation of required documentation and reports. + Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, utilizing both traditional accounting skills and Power BI analytics for deeper insights. + Work with ERP or other financial systems to extract and analyze data. + Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to automation efforts using advanced tools and systems. Required Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. + 2-4 years of professional experience in accounting or finance. + Proficiency in Power BI, including building reports, creating dashboards, and performing data analyses. + Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas, etc.). + Knowledge of ERP software (such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) and financial systems integration. + Thorough understanding of GAAP and financial reporting processes. + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. + Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing. + CPA (preferred) or progress toward CPA designation.
