Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in JACKSON, Michigan. This role is crucial in our organization as it involves managing cash resources, developing budgets, and preparing necessary reports. You will also be required to interface with program directors regarding budgets and expenses, and ensure compliance with OMB-Circulars and guidelines pertinent to assigned grants/programs.
Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee the cash resources of the organization to ensure proper utilization.
• Develop comprehensive budgets for all programs to ensure financial efficiency.
• Prepare timely and accurate reports as required by various funding sources.
• Maintain regular interaction with program directors to discuss budgets and expenses.
• Ensure appropriate recording and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare reports and forms for outside entities when necessary.
• Oversee the contract process to ensure all standards and guidelines are adhered to.
• Prepare year-end audit work papers and journal entry transfers.
• Ensure knowledge and compliance with OMB-Circulars and guidelines pertinent to assigned grants/programs.

Requirements
• Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Previous experience in grant accounting is required.
• Proficiency in using financial software and databases is required.
• A solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is needed.
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills are expected.
• Applicants should be able to handle confidential information with discretion.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in work is required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate analyses are preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with team members and management are necessary.
• The ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and work independently as well as part of a team is required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel, is necessary.
• The ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks is essential.
• Applicants should have a proactive approach to identify problems and implement effective solutions.
• A detail-oriented certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) would be beneficial.
• The ability to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments is required.
