Staff Accountant

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with 2-3 years of experience to join our dynamic finance team. The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, conducting monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within the finance team and across departments.

Detailed Reconciliation Skills:

Expertise in performing detailed account reconciliations for various financial accounts, ensuring that all discrepancies are identified and addressed promptly.

Problem-Solving Ability:

Proficient in investigating and resolving discrepancies and issues that arise during the reconciliation process, utilizing critical thinking skills to propose solutions. Ability to collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information and resolve variances.

Attention to Detail:

Exceptional focus on accuracy in performing reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial records, minimizing errors or misstatements. Careful review of data inputs, transactions, and reconciliations to ensure that all entries are complete and accurate.

Communication Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey reconciliation results and collaborate with other teams, including offshore teams. Ability to explain complex reconciliation issues in a concise and understandable manner for stakeholders and team members.

Team Collaboration:

Ability to work closely with both internal teams (e.g., finance, operations) and external parties to resolve reconciliation issues and enhance processes. Willingness to engage and coordinate with offshore teams or shared service centers as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

Proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements in the reconciliation process, aiming for greater efficiency and accuracy. Openness to learning new techniques and best practices related to account reconciliations.

Experienced:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related 2-3 years of accounting experience; insurance industry experience a plus Strong understanding of accounting principles including knowledge of GAAP Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with accounting software; familiarity with Oracle PeopleSoft a plus Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and a proactive attitude towards process improvement initiatives. CPA or pursuing CPA certification a plus but not required Experience with financial analysis or budgeting processes is an advantage.

The pay range for the role is $64,800 to $75,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
