Staff Accountant
Description Our organization, based in the education sector and situated in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a Staff Accountant to become a permanent member of our team. The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the precise and efficient processing of financial transactions, maintaining financial security, and contributing to team efforts. Responsibilities: • Oversee the process of customer credit applications with precision and efficiency. • Maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls. • Aid with annual audits, contributing to the validation of financial transactions. • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local financial legal requirements, keeping abreast of new legislation and advising management accordingly. • Compile special financial reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. • Preserve confidentiality and trust by protecting financial information. • Contribute to team efforts and results, delivering excellent customer service. • Stay updated in a detail-oriented manner by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in societies. • Answer accounting procedure queries by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations. • Prepare payments, ensuring all documentation is verified before requesting disbursements. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). • Experience with Bank Reconciliations. • Thorough understanding of General Ledger management. • Ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries. • Experience with Month End Close procedures. • Familiarity with the Ellucian Banner software system. • Proven skills in Account Reconciliation. • Capability to create Ad Hoc Reporting. • Experience in preparing and understanding Aging Reports. • Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role in the education sector. • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. • Ability to work both independently and within a team. • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
