Staff Accountant
Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Real Estate industry, located in New York. This role involves assisting the team with various accounting processes, including handling journal entries, performing bank reconciliations, and processing checks among other tasks. Responsibilities: • Assist in the preparation of journal entries and accruals to ensure the accuracy of accounting records. • Conduct bank reconciliations to verify the company's financial transactions and status. • Participate in the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. • Utilize Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting, leveraging features such as pivot tables and lookups. • Handle check processing and distribution tasks to ensure smooth financial operations. • Utilize QuickBooks and Yardi for various accounting processes and tasks. • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all entries are accurate and up-to-date. • Ensure all accounting processes are conducted in accordance with established standards and regulations. • Utilize knowledge and experience in the Real Estate industry to contribute to the company's financial operations. Requirements • Must hold a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar • Proficient in Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, and Month End Close • Experience with QuickBooks and Yardi is mandatory • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel • Familiarity with Check Processing procedures • Experience in the Real Estate sector will be advantageous • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a plus • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • High attention to detail and accuracy • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
