Job Description
The SSHO will be responsible for the overall health and safety of employees on their respective construction projects. This role involves overseeing workers on a dredging project and ensuring the work is performed to the standards regulated in the EM 385-1-1 Army Corps of Engineers Standards.
ResponsibilitiesOversee the health and safety of employees on construction projects.Ensure work is performed according to EM 385-1-1 Army Corps of Engineers Standards.Monitor and enforce compliance with OSHA regulations.Write and maintain safety reports.Provide and ensure the use of PPE such as hard hats and safety vests.Essential SkillsIn-depth knowledge of current Army Corp (EM-385-1-1) and OSHA regulations.Minimum of 5 years of Health & Safety Construction Experience, preferably in dredging.OSHA 500, OSHA 501, or OSHA 30 certification.Ability to write safety reports.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with federal construction projects.Knowledge of site safety protocols.Experience in dredging, marine, levy, and construction.5 years of continued education with relevant certificates (e.g., 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017).Work Environment
The work environment includes working day shifts on project sites, starting in NJ for the first month with subsequent travel. The schedule typically involves 17 days on followed by 11 days off. Candidates must be willing to stand for extended periods and work 12-hour days for two weeks. PPE, including hard hats and safety glasses, will be provided. Actalent will arrange a rental car for travel.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
