Sr. UX Researcher, Futures Design
Amazon.com
Futures Design is the advanced concept design and incubation team within Amazon’s Device and Services Design Group (DDG). We are responsible for exploring and defining think (very) big opportunities globally and locally — so that we can better understand how new products and services might enrich the lives of our customers and so that product teams and leaders can align on where we're going and why we're going there. We focus on a 3–10+ year time frame, with the runway to invent and design category-defining products and transformational customer experiences. Working with Amazon business and technology partners, we use research, design, and prototyping to guide early product development, bring greater clarity to engineering goals, and develop a UX-grounded point of view.
We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Sr. UX Researcher to join our growing team of mixed-methods researchers, and raise the bar on how we gather and apply customer insights at Amazon.
If you are passionate about developing and applying research methods to answer challenging questions, enjoy collaborating closely with a diverse set of highly skilled cross-functional partners, and like seeing your efforts translated into real world impact, we want you on our team.
Key job responsibilities
- Create long-term futures devices, services, and opportunity frameworks that align to and inform the business strategy, address customers’ fundamental needs, and leverage core business capabilities and new technologies.
- Define and execute research appropriate to inform future solutions, including but not limited to in-field ethnographic research, diary studies, and surveys.
- Provide strong analysis and interpretation of research findings through the synthesis of a wide range of primary and secondary data into focused, insightful, relevant and actionable findings, strategic frameworks, and other compelling artifacts.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and flexibility that inspires decision makers at all levels of the organization to align on opportunities to invent for the customer.
- Work independently with design, product management and business leaders across the organization and successfully persuade decision makers at all levels to take aligned action on research findings.
- Generate communications and artifacts that influence and that are adopted by other teams across Amazon.
