Sr. Underwriter - Casualty

How you will create an impact The Casualty Senior Underwriter will be responsible for supporting the Casualty Puerto Rico Product Leader in the day to day underwriting and management of the overall Casualty portfolio including developing business development strategy, management of broker and distribution channels, budget and business planning functions and reporting, portfolio analytics, development and training of staff, and compliance of internal policies to achieve a sustainable and profitable regional portfolio, including but not limited to: + Provide assistance to Casualty Director as assigned and have accountability on pipeline management through the assignment of Internal and/or Regional Reports & Tasks. + Actively source business opportunities and underwrite Casualty as per Business Plan objectives. + Drive underwriting excellence across the business by establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, line setting, standards and guidelines, and ensure rating and pricing adequacy. + Monitoring of submission flow by distribution channels, effectiveness ratios, analysis of losses/ claims behaviors, among others. + Collaborate with Distribution and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross selling opportunities from brokers. + Develop strong, long term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow a book of business throughout Puerto Rico and Caribbean. + Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients. + Maintain updated underwriting files based on corporate guidelines. What you’ll need to succeed + University degree; graduate preferred in Business. + This role suits candidates that have vast and extensive Casualty underwriting experience across Puerto Rico and Caribbean markets with a strong understanding of risk selection process, exposure analysis. Casualty products: General Liability, Excess, Commercial Auto, Environmental Liability and Product Recall. + ​Established broker network with strong professional relationships. + Demonstrated business savvy, analytical and quantitative skills with strong problem-solving abilities. + Strong business acumen, with a proven track record of making sound judgment backed by strong analytical, quantitative, process and systems skills. + Strong influencing and communications skills, and ability to work collaboratively. + Proficient in Adobe and MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. + Fluency in English and Spanish. + Ability to work autonomously, efficiently, under pressure, and manage heavy workload.
