Summary of the position:
The Senior Transportation Manager role will play a critical role within the Global Transportation Management team at Roche Diagnostics. Reporting directly to the Global Transportation Management leadership, this position involves collaboration with suppliers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to optimize transportation processes and improve supply chain performance. In some situations, this professional will work closely with a 3rd party Control Tower to provide global visibility, efficient operational execution, and continuous improvement to our key business partners and stakeholders.


Main tasks of the position
Position’s most important individual tasks:

Accountable for the performance targets for a very large and/or complex portfolio of transportation lanes within the area of responsibility, balancing quality, lead time, financials and sustainabilityLead regular Business Review Meetings with carriers, tracking performance indicators and taking corrective actions where necessary.Accountable for large-scale continuous improvement projects to optimize logistics processes in collaboration with internal stakeholders, including the highest revenue-generating and strategic affiliates in Roche Diagnostics, carriers, freight forwarders, and other external partnersCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure transportation strategies are integrated with overall supply chain plans and initiatives.Responsible to identify and mitigate critical and complex transportation network risks 1/2Provide detailed requirements for all procurement RFQs and commercial activity for lanes in scope of this role's responsibilities.Collaborate with Procurement to Develop and maintain strong relationships with transportation service providers.Monitor industry trends and best practices to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in transportation management.Ensure all transportation activities comply with relevant regulations, company policies, and safety standardsTravel % required (if applicable): 10-15%

Qualifications of the position:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, or a related field. Advanced degree preferredProfessional experience/duration: 7+ years in a supply chain roleIn-depth knowledge of the various transportation modesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.Excellent communication, stakeholder and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.Experience with working with 3rd party logistics providers.Ability to communicate fluently in English.
