Sr. Technical Accounting Analyst

The Senior Technical Accounting Analyst position reports to the Technical Accounting Senior Manager and will perform a variety of technical accounting tasks, predominantly related to the Company’s real estate activities including the accounting for construction, property purchases, leases and special projects, as well as Company’s expanding cloud business.  The role will partner with the Facilities and Real Estate Teams, Regional Accounting Teams, and other business owners to maintain accurate accounting and reporting.  Given the Company’s continued high growth, the position will serve a role in process and system initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

•             Solid accounting analysis utilizing Excel and Power Point and based on appropriate source support.

•             Support ASC 842 lease accounting and controls for the global lease portfolio.

•             Participate in accounting for purchased properties (both one-time and recurring tasks) and determine technical accounting conclusions. 

•             Account for Company’s various construction projects and other capex.

•             Execution of controls and documentation in relation to capex, real estate, and leases.

•             Financial close process and broader accounting tasks.

•             Management reporting support – data analysis, presentation decks, including cloud business related analyses.

•             Tenanted lease accounting.

•             Document the Company’s position and conclusions in formal technical accounting memos.

•             Assist in the development and documentation of key accounting policies and procedures.

•             Support special project efforts for the Company’s accounting systems. 

•             Understand connections between the various real estate activities and apply them when performing analysis.

•             Develop and maintain professional relationships across Finance, Facilities and Real Estate teams.

•             Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

•             Demonstrates the ability to be versatile and willingness to jump in where needed.

•             Proficient in Teams, Excel and PowerPoint.  Must be comfortable with technology and learning new accounting systems (Oracle). LeaseQuery or equivalent lease management system experience a plus.

•             Innovative, team-oriented, excellent communication skills with a desire to participate in change and the ability to prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment.

•             Attention to detail and thoroughness is essential.

•             Ability to take full ownership of assignments and be self-motivated.

•             CPA preferred, BA degree in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years applicable experience, combination of Big 4 plus technology company preferred.

Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, and job level. Earnings for this position are expected to be $115,000 - $175,000 Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

All roles are eligible to participate in the Fortinet equity program, Bonus eligibility is reviewed at time of hire and annually at the Company’s discretion
