The PayPal SDK Engineering team is seeking to reinvent the way we pay online. Our team is responsible for enabling millions of merchants around the world to accept payments within their mobile apps and websites. We always keep developers and their needs at the top of our mind and strive to provide the best-in-class developer experience.

We are looking for an experienced, highly talented, and self-driven Web Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will be developing and enabling new payment methods and features for PayPal’s Web SDK. You will play a pivotal role in designing and building the next generation of PayPal’s developer experience. You will be responsible for building and delivering features for PayPal’s Web SDK, maintaining and contributing to open source, and evangelizing and engaging with external developers. We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn, eager to teach, provides thought leadership, and has a strong focus on empathizing and understanding what developers need.

We are seeking a talented engineer to be an instrumental part of our Braintree Web SDK team.  

You will be part of a team of 7 to 9 Experienced US based engineers 

Your responsibilities include ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions, and engaging with external developers 

You will set clear technical goals for the services and projects within the team’s domain 

Define technical requirements, and manage priorities in collaboration with cross-functional teams 

You will implement best practices and drive technical excellence by understanding and addressing developers' needs 

Our team is dedicated to reinventing online payments, enabling merchants worldwide to accept payments within their apps and websites. You will play a key role in delivering innovative solutions and exceptional support to our developer community 

You will oversee the development of new payment methods and features, shaping the next generation of our developer experience 

   
Meet the team: 

We do a lot of open-source development as some of our SDKs are in public GitHub 

We build and support Braintree’s SDKs, which are the primary way for a merchant to accept payments on their websites and mobile apps 

We are launching new and interesting ways to pay through our SDKs 

We create easy-to-use developer tools that supplement our SDKs and Integrations 

We are focused on improving the developer experience by engaging with the external developer community, creating tutorials, blogs, and speaking at conferences 

   

Qualifications: 

+6 years of Web Development experience 

+3 years of experience working in a large-scale organization 

+2 years of previous Technical Leadership role 

Proven ability to mentor engineers at all levels 

Experience building JavaScript and TypeScript applications 

Experience in developer-facing products (e.g. SDKs, REST APIs, GraphQL) or products that enable third-party application development 

Nice to have: 

Experience with payment processing, e-commerce, or financial technology is a plus
