If you’re ready to play a leading role in driving digital transformation and technology modernization for one of the leading P&C insurers across the globe, please read on. As part of Chubb’s North America Solutions Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work with modern technologies such as GenAI and Cloud, while reducing existing technical debt and delivering a positive impact to the business bottom line. 

As a Senior Solution Engineer at Chubb, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of technology solutions that meet the needs of the organization. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including business leaders, project managers, software engineers, and infrastructure teams, to define and deliver end-to-end solutions which are secure, scalable, resilient, and flexible. You will also provide guidance and support to development teams throughout the software development life cycle.

In this role, you will:

Set the technical direction on specific projects by delivering implementable architecture designs that account for technology modernization in a practical and iterative way. Seek guidance or make balanced decisions that account for time-to-market, reduction of technical debt, supportability, and business needs Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand and document solution requirements and align business and technology roadmaps Collaborate across numerous agile teams to provide end to end solutions across multiple business domains Provide architecture governance for solutions across the designated portfolio  Provide solution direction in collaboration with delivery teams  Guide and mentor development teams on sound design and coding principles and best practices in areas such as UI/UX, integration, APIs and Micro Services, application and data security, DevSecOps, and Cloud environments Develop and document secure, scalable, and resilient solution architecture designs aligned to Chubb’s global standards and strategies in support of Chubb’s digital transformation across the Personal Risk Services Insurance portfolio which meet functional, performance, and usability requirements Define application architecture and cloud migration / modernization roadmaps for the designated portfolio Identify, evaluate, and integrate new data and technologies to meet business needs Integrate data and intelligence to enable, automate, and optimize key processes such as risk identification, evaluation & selection; rating; user experience for customers, agents, and underwriters Influence the roadmap and architecture of Chubb’s global platforms to enable new capabilities and align with business needs Help research and prototype emerging technologies that advance digital transformation Ensure alignment and compliance with Chubb technology platform roadmaps, architectural principles, and standards Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent industry experience consideredAt least 10+ years of experience as an architect delivering end-to-end technology solutions, ideally in the property and casualty insurance domain and working with policy administration systemsAt least 5+ years of experience in understanding and analyzing large systems built on legacy technology (mainframe, COBOL, DB2, IMS, MQ, CICS) with the intention of decomposition, integration and modernization to a cloud-native architectureAt least 5+ years of experience developing solution architecture designs for cloud-native and hybrid applications (Azure preferred). Cloud certifications are a plusAt least 3 years of experience working in agile organizations collaborating with Product Owners, Engineering Leads and other key Business, Operations, Legal, and Compliance stakeholders in a Scaled Agile frameworkAbility to guide and mentor development teams on sound design and coding principles along with best practices in areas such as integration (API & Microservices), resiliency, data and application security, DevOps, and Cloud Experience developing roadmaps outlining the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from current to future stateStrong relational (Azure SQL, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cosmos DB) database knowledgeStrong cloud (Azure preferred) experience in multiple areas from API Management, Kubernetes, Cosmos DB, App service, Azure functions, Redis cache etc.Experience with hands-on coding in a modern programming language (e.g. C#, Java, Python, etc.) and technologies such as .NET, Springboot, Camel, Kafka, MQ, JavaScript, Angular, Node.js, microservices, REST, SOAP, API Management/Gateway, Containers, Kubernetes, etc.Interest in defining highly performant and reliable integration patterns between cloud native microservices and legacy technology (COBOL, Smalltalk, IMS)Experience leveraging and integrating COTS and SaaS solutions. Experience with Insurance industry specific software such as Duck Creek, Insurity, etc. is a plus

 

In Jersey City, NJ the pay range for the role is $106,500 to $176,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
