Key Responsibilities:
Creates clear, accurate, and concise technical content by leveraging technical writing principles, resources, technologies and tools.Analyzes and improves complex subject matter, leveraging direct product experience as well as product specifications.Researches, organizes, and writes easy to comprehend documentation that simplifies complex technical concepts into content consumable by all, ensuring appropriate syntax, style, and grammatical usage of data.Defines and manages projects from start to finish for self or a small team.Organizes and prioritizes work and schedule according to the business goals, product release cycle, and customer needs.Reconciles conflicting inputs, content priorities and deadlines with stakeholders.Tracks progress and issues in defect management system. Verifies that technical content is accurate, clear, complete, and user focused.Ensures it adheres to standards for graphics, layout, format, style, terminology, and overall quality. Maintains a thorough understanding of content publishing and lifecycle processes.Validates documentation content against the software product by testing procedures described, often by installing, setting up, and running the software.Designs, develops, and publishes technical content for product/UI text, API documentation, web pages, user/installation guides, support articles, training material, blogs, videos, release notes, new feature documents and graphics.Author, maintain, and improve high-quality documentation, including user guides, Application Programming Interface (API) references, tutorials, and technical articles for various product lifecycle stages, from adoption and onboarding to advanced use cases.Develop visual aids, diagrams, and examples to enhance comprehension of technical concepts.Assess and establish efficient systems to publish white papers. Teach others to do so.Assess and revamp publication systems to enable engineering to do their own documentationProactively identify gaps in documentation and develop strategies to improve clarity, accuracy, and completeness.Work with team members to help them make effective documentation contributions.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align documentation with product goals and user needs.QualificationsMinimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or technical field and 6+ years of experience as a technical writer OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or technical field and 4+ years of experience as a technical writer.
Minimum 2+ years of experience in the following:
Engineering or software development background, with the ability to understand APIs, SDKs, and developer tools.Experience with markdown is a must, and RST markup languages, with frameworks for documentation generation such as Sphinx and Swagger, and working with Git.Demonstrated expertise in simplifying complex technical information into user-friendly content.Track record of working with engineers, product managers, and marketing teams.Content management and operations best practices.Must show demos of documentation you've written (work samples).Preferred Qualifications:
Expert in MarkdownTechnical writer, preferably in a product or developer-focused role.Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.
