Sr. SDM, AWS Health AI
The AWS Health AI team is looking for a stellar Sr. Software Development Manager to lead the Amazon HealthOmics engineering team. Health AI products make it easy for Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) customers to leverage their data at Petabyte scale and use machine learning and health-specific generative AI capabilities to improve the health of individuals and populations, reduce the cost of care and advance the state of medical research. You will work with a diverse team brought together and motivated by work that improves people’s lives, while being challenged on a daily basis. In this role, you will lead the HealthOmics engineering team, an AWS service which enables customers to store, query, analyze, and generate insights from genomics and other biological data. This is an area that requires solving the hardest engineering challenges to enable data processing, multimodal analytics, and managed compute for running genomics and bioinformatics workflows at scale. Our services have to be scalable, efficient, highly secure, and extremely fault tolerant. Experience with data processing, analytics and/or AI/ML systems is preferred, but not required.

In this role, you will function as a manager of managers, and provide leadership on complex technical issues. You will be responsible for delivering some of our most strategic technical projects, deliver large scalable systems, design new software systems at the cutting edge of HCLS and GenAI with a significant bottom-line impact on our business and competitive position.

As a senior manager of software development in AWS, you will be part of the larger technical leadership community that forms the backbone of the company, play a critical role in broad business planning, working closely with senior executives, influence our long-term technical and business strategy, helps us hire a talented team of engineers and ultimately enable us to deliver innovative new solutions rapidly.

This position within the AWS Health AI team presents a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast growing business and help shape the technology, product and the business. A successful candidate will bring deep technical and software expertise, strong business acumen and judgment, an ability to define visionary, ground breaking products, ability to hire and lead a team, desire to have an industry wide impact and ability to work within a fast moving, startup environment in a large company to rapidly deliver services that have a broad business impact.
