Sr. Release Train Engineer
**Overview** SR. RELEASE TRAIN ENGINEER (ARDAP): Bowhead is seeking a Sr. Release Train Engineer for the upcomingArmy Data and Analytics Platform (ARDAP) effort located at Fort Belvoir, VA. ARDAP'smission is to accelerate Army leader informed decisions and warfighter mission accomplishment by ensuring real-time availability of command and logistics information & data. This is a fast paced job managing subject matter experts and IT professionals advising executive level personnel on financial, technical, and other high-level policy areas. **Responsibilities** + Serves as the strategic leader and coach for the Army Training Information System (ATIS) Agile Release Train (ART), ensuring the seamless execution of Agile practices to deliver high value solutions. + This role is pivotal in synchronizing the activities of multiple teams, facilitating communication between stakeholders, managing risks, and driving continuous improvement within the ART. As a senior leader, the RTE provides guidance on Lean Agile principles, oversees program level events, and ensures alignment with organizational goals while navigating the complexities of DoD Agile software development projects. + Serve as the leader and coach for the ART, synchronizing activities across multiple SAFe architecture, matrix support, and development teams. + Facilitate key Agile Release Train events, including Program Increment (PI) Planning, System Demos, and periodic synchronization events like the ART sync. Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs) to ensure program alignment. + Plan and execute PI planning sessions, enabling teams to define and prioritize features and capabilities. + Identify and manage program level risks and dependencies, ensuring seamless integration of deliverables. + Escalate and resolve impediments that impact ART performance, collaborating with stakeholders to drive resolution. Metrics and Reporting: Lead SAFe metrics reporting for senior leaders, utilizing Agile Program Management Tools to provide actionable insights and progress updates. + Facilitate economic decision making by assisting teams with feature and capability estimation and rolling up to Epics, when required. + Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters on Lean Agile principles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and a growth mindset. + Drive relentless improvement within the ART by promoting the use of industry best practices and tools. + Act as the primary liaison between Agile teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and expectations. + Provide regular updates to senior leadership on ART progress, risks, and opportunities for optimization. Program and Contract Management: Leverage in-depth knowledge of Government acquisition processes, contracts, and subcontract management to ensure compliance and program success. **Qualifications** + Master’s degree in an Information Technology discipline or a related field. + Twenty (20+) years of experience in implementing software solutions for the DoD and/or federal government. + Five (5+) years leading Agile projects, including experience as a Release Train Engineer for one or more DoD Agile software development projects. + Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or SAFe Agilist (SA) or equivalent Agile certifications. + Extensive experience leading SAFe Agile transformations in complex, large-scale environments. + Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. + Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. + Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team. Physical Demands: + Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds + Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time + Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.
