Amazon Global Procurement Organization is seeking an experienced Sr. Program Manager to plan and execute on our vision of a digitally integrated and automated Indirect Supply Chain. This role will take responsibility for orchestrating communication, leading stakeholders and engineering teams through project inception, discovery and planning, driving cross-org alignment, scheduling projects, removing roadblocks, executing and delivering projects, working directly with engineering to deliver on roadmap objectives, and matching the needs of customers and stakeholders with the solutions and resources needed to deliver business value.
Given the breadth of the technology solutions we develop and integrate, this role will require coordination across internal and external Amazon teams as well as third party vendors. You’ll work with customers, partners, and business stakeholders to align prioritized features with engineering solutions that deliver the most value and customer satisfaction. You will partner with Product Management and Engineering to define new capabilities and solutions through expertly crafted narratives, business requirements and product specifications, while driving clarity for business partners and engineers alike.
The successful Sr. Program Manager candidate will have progressive career experience in Project Management and Program Management roles, operating in both traditional program management (PMBOK) environments and Agile (Scrum/SAFe) environments. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years experience managing multi-phase software development programs, and demonstrate the ability to engage with technical teams on software technology topics with some degree of familiarity.
Successful applicants will have experience developing functional and non-functional requirements, reviewing technical specifications, facilitating business and technical meetings, partnering with resources outside of the team to get things done, scheduling and pivoting project plans, communicating status, resolving risks, removing barriers, leading cross-functional teams, and communicating to a large number of stakeholders. Candidates must demonstrate experience managing complex programs and interrelated projects across multiple engineering and stakeholder groups. This role will be expected to communicate effectively to all levels within the company, both in writing and in meetings.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support multiple business groups within the Global Procurement Organization's Technology Team (GPT), converting requests into well-formed projects, features and deliverables to support multi-national operations.
- Orchestrate the creation and organizational adoption of automated systems and metrics to support the organization in meeting its strategic business objectives through technology enablement.
- Plan, document and evangelize program scope, success criteria and adoption while driving program outcomes that meet business strategy and goals.
- Apply a structured change management approach and program management methodology to effectively meet customer needs.
- Operate as a single-threaded-leader of the projects within the assigned program portfolio, taking responsibility for creatively delivering results through partnerships, engineering and process improvements.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Earn the trust of key stakeholders both inside and outside of the department
- Manage intake requests for features and projects, responding to requestors and managing expectations
- Become a subject matter expert in the user systems and processes within assigned programs.
- Champion standards and process improvements
- Create and manage metrics that track adoption, and utilization of systems and features, using KPI's to measure and drive successful goal completion
- Speak the language of business; speak the language of engineering; think the discipline of program management
- Write clear and high quality documents that raise the bar for Amazonian Doc Writing, demonstrating collaborative leadership, championing stakeholder alignment and bias for action.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: 20-30%
Key job responsibilities
- Customer Intake review and response - customers submit requests to digitally solve business problems, automate KPI's, build applications, add feature enhancements, etc.
- Solutions Assessment - match customer needs with multiple possible solutions that may include non-tech processes, buying & integrating software, leveraging existing Amazon systems or building new systems.
- Requirements Management - Reviewing business requirements and decomposing them into work-breakdown-structure, including Epics, Features, User Stories, System Stories and how to organize them into a project schedule while tracking key risks and decisions.
- Driving Alignment - Orchestrating between customers, Product Managers, other Program Managers and Software Development Managers to translate business requirements into resource-committed project schedules and delivery plans.
- Writing documents to propose solutions, solicit feedback, align stakeholders, drive decisions and foster both change and acceleration of delivered customer value.
- Identifying and/or developing both business and systems metrics to drive transparency and measurable positive change.
- Appropriately challenging or pushing back on customers, engineers, product managers, and peers when noticing that the status-quo is insufficient or that desired goals will not be met.
About the team
The Global Procurement Technology (GPT) team drives the mission to leverage existing technology and build new digital solutions that digitalize, scale and advance worldwide procurement business capabilities for the indirect supply chain at Amazon. We presently develop and support over 20 software products, with more underway, which serve worldwide Amazon business teams and third-party suppliers. Our technology solutions and ever-evolving digital strategy have gained the attention of pan-Amazon business and technology teams. We strive to design solutions globally, deliver locally, and attract customers through results.
Our technology teams operate primarily out of 5 global hubs: Irvine CA, Bellevue/Seattle WA, Arlington VA, Luxembourg and Hyderabad India.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- 3+ years of developing program strategies and plans, diving execution, and influencing senior stakeholders experience
- 5+ years of working cross functionally with tech teams experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Hold a current certification in either traditional program management from PMI (PMP) or a reputable Agile Software Development certification (CSM, ICS/ICP, PSM, SAFe POPM, APMG)
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
- 2+ years of communicating with and presenting to executive and senior audiences experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
