As Sr. Product Manager for High Throughput Sequencing Platforms, you will be responsible for the ongoing development and support of Illumina’s on-market production-scale platforms and core consumable portfolio with the goal of driving overall customer satisfaction and continued growth of Illumina’s high throughput sequencing business.

The successful candidate will be defining the product strategy, developing the roadmap, and executing to the business plans.  As a highly collaborative individual with a successful track record in product management, this person can engage, lead, and influence cross-functional teams in implementing strategies to ensure customer success, drive increased adoption and utilization, and deliver on revenue goals and product performance milestones.


Primary Responsibilities

Business Planning and Strategy: Assess global market needs, opportunities, trends, competitive landscape in partnership with Product Marketing, Segment, and Regional Marketing teams Assist in developing strategic growth plan driven off key insights Defines and executes on product and overall portfolio roadmap & strategy Develop strategies for increased customer acquisition and utilization in partnership with the broader Sales, Marketing and Support teams Establish and maintain relationships with key customers, thought leaders and partners to understand emerging trends, including variables that define product-application fit, ensuring successful product adoption and utilization Assists in formulating platform technical/functional value proposition

Product Lifecycle Management: Functions as a strong customer advocate, ensuring customer needs are addressed through product requirements Provide on-market support for Illumina’s high throughput portfolio in partnership with Sales, Support, Planning, and Manufacturing teams Function as product management lead on sustaining projects, and portfolio management for high throughput platforms and core consumables portfolio Manage product flow, inventory optimizing global asset utilization across regions and markets Function as the liaison to manufacturing operations on product issues and work in partnership with Global Product Support to ensure timely communication to and support of customers Ensure continued path to support revenue growth across target markets Orchestrate fluid EOL strategy to optimize revenue attainment

Financial Management:  Develop and maintain financial unit forecasting, and pricing models Ensure continued optimization of pricing strategy to enable market responsiveness and deliver against projected KPIs including revenue Monitor product performance through reporting of key metrics

Cross-functional Leadership Drive development of commercial strategies and tactics to enable increased system utilization and consumables pull-through in partnership with sales, support, regional, segment and product marketing Collaborates with segment teams and regional sales & marketing contacts to gather input on market research, business case development and go to market planning Serve as product and market expert to help shape corporate and marketing strategy, as well as inform on technology roadmaps Work closely with global sales and marketing teams to implement positioning and messaging, pricing, promotion, and sales enablement programs to ensure successful market penetration

Requirements:

Must have >4 years of demonstrated success in product management within the life sciences or genomics fieldMust have complete product lifecycle management experienceTechnical knowledge of genomics, next-generation sequencing and molecular biology applications is requiredDeep knowledge of the NGS market, trends, applications, end-to-end workflows and customer needs is criticalAbility to perform analyses of customer consideration, purchasing patterns and competitive trendsExperience conducting market research, survey analysis, voice of customer, and other foundational marketing and product management activities is criticalAble to synthesize data to inform business case including scenarios and sensitivity analysesAbility to lead cross functional project teams and deal with complexityStrong customer-facing skills built through prior Sales, Technical or Field Support, or Marketing functionMust have strong analytical skills – ability to tie detailed analysis to larger strategy and make data driven decisionsProficient communicator with excellent presentation skills and the ability to present to diverse audiencesAbility to influence people and diverse stakeholder groups within a global, matrixed organizationIndependent, driven and strategically minded   Thrives in a dynamic, fast paced environmentExceptional time and project management skills and organizational capabilities to drive work proactivelyWilling to travel up to 25% when travel reopens

Qualifications and Other Requirements:

BS in relevant field (engineering, marketing, or genomics-related profession); advanced degree preferredMust have at least 5+ years of industry experience in Product ManagementLocation at Foster City or San Diego officeTitle and level are flexible depending on the skill set on the candidate.

The estimated base salary range for the Sr. Product Manager - NovaSeq X Series Core Consumables role based in the United States of America is: $105,600 - $158,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
