Sr. Procurement Manager
JOB SCOPE/SUMMARY:Develop and maintain efficient procurement systems for  purchase and delivery of raw materials and suppliesManage the acquisition of raw materials, ensure efficient  inventory and optimum stock levels for operationsManage and supervise the purchasing staff

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage the day to day activities of the procurement department.Supervise the purchasing staff and assume their duties as needed.Negotiate with vendors to obtain favorable pricing, availability, and delivery scheduling.Develop and maintain purchasing strategies and systems, including ordering policies and procedures, internal controls, record keeping, standard operating procedures and backup systems.Approve requisitions for the purchase of raw materials and supplies, MRO Items and approve invoices for payment of these materials and services within scope of authority.\Act as liaison between companies ensuring proper information is disseminated between the two.Collaborate with R&D, Operations (supply chain, quality and manufacturing) to ensure high quality, efficient inventory management and uninterrupted supply for a sustainable business.Manage inquiries, complaints and issues from customers, suppliers and vendors not able to be handled by purchasing employee, including corrective action when warranted.Maintain department budget and expenses within budgeted levels.  Track and analyze purchasing activities and data. Prepare reports as needed and apply the results to purchasing decisions.Work with Cost Accounting to analyze material costs and determine necessary product pricing actions to cover actual or projected raw material increases.Collaborate with marketing in development of new projects and coordinate the handoff to purchasing.Handle purchasing function s for finished goods provided by outside companies.Participate in project teams related to economic procurement of materials.Promote ethical, safe work practices and cooperative spirit with all company departments.Provide back up support for scheduling activities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Bachelor’s level degree in Procurement, Business Administration (Finance or Accounting) Chemistry, Engineering or a related field, a Master’s in Business Administration, Supply Chain  Management, Operations Management, Chemistry, Engineering or Finance is preferred.

Considerable experience in the chemical industry, negotiation, and procurement of chemicals, involving material sourcing and purchasing. Experience in high level negotiations and purchasing of coatings raw materials is preferred

Supervisory experience

Knowledge of computerized purchasing system and procurement methodsExcellent financial and math skillsExcellent negotiation skillsVerbal and written communication, organizational and planning skillsManagement, supervisory and coaching skillsAbility to maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers and vendorsDemonstrated high standards of business ethicsAbility to work well under deadline pressuresExcellent knowledge and functionality with Microsoft Excel
