POSITION: Sr. Principal Systems Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Welch Allyn, Inc. a Baxter company, is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer with the following duties:

Interact with all business and customer partners to understand their problems and needs;Define the needs in a stakeholder needs document which is reviewed and approved by cross functional team members;Translate customer needs, business constraints, and regulatory requirements into product functional and performance system requirements;Conduct product risk management activities;Objectively and holistically communicate tradeoffs during the architecture selection process;Participate in system and subsystem architecture and design process;Analyze and propose solutions for product and customer issues;Decompose and allocate system level requirements into module level requirements;Lead the technical team through technical risk identification and management as well as issue and test defect resolution;Ensure design changes are analyzed holistically and impacts are fully understood.This position includes research, designing, and developing embedded systems, systems-level software applications, and network distribution software for medical and general computing applications.Specifically working on products within the healthcare industry including Patient Monitoring, Physical Exams and Diagnostics, Vision, Cardiology, and Respiratory health medical devices and equipment. The individual will solve connectivity issues to ensure correct clinician and patient association to the appropriate clinical data, which can then be sent to an Electronic Health Record system or 3rd party software.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Software, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field plus 8 years of related experience  Will accept any level of experience in the following skills:Translate customer needs and business cases to verifiable product functional and performance requirements using EARS language rules;Analyze external and internal interfaces to define functional requirements and design specifications as per IHE standards to integrate medical devices and systems;Decompose and define product requirements as per the IEC 60601 series medical device regulatory standards;Define test plans, test protocols, execute tests and author reports using Azure Devops/ TFS, Polarion and Microsoft Word;Lead and coordinate the technical planning effort for projects involving the development of new medical products;Develop code and perform code reviews with programming languages, including C#, Python, Javascript, HTML, CSS.Up to 60% remote work allowed. Must live within normal commuting distance of worksite. Up to 20% domestic and international travel required.

Competitive compensation and benefits.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career.  At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices.  To that end, this position has a base salary range of $135,928 – $180,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position.  The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
