Responsible for contributing to the development of CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deploy) and platform engineering best practices while providing hands on guidance to teams on ways of optimizing their processes. Identifies and brings forward improvement opportunities to other aspects of the engineering operations lifecycle. This role will be hands-on with IaC, CI/CD and orchestration solutions and will partner with the Platform Engineering Lead on optimizing dev/ops best practices and delivering elevated developer experience.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participates and provides input in the development of the Platform Strategy as well as responsible to execute respective roadmap work. Assists in setting direction of process, support and systems to execute the strategy.
• Deploys complex and critical cloud based infrastructure; accountable for the operation and support of Platform team products and services. Builds, tests, deploys and ensure the successful operations of platforms.
• Configures, supports and troubleshoots various operational systems such as our CI/CD platform, Kubernetes (EKS) testing tools, code management systems and other areas related to helping development teams operate efficiently.
• Collaborates, provides input and executes the implementation of standardized offerings to drive the successful deployment of stacks and ensure the operational health throughout the lifecycle leveraging:
o Continuous build, test, integration and deployment platforms and pipelines
o Repositories & registries for build/deployment artifacts
o Automated testing frameworks for applications and infrastructure
o Automated processes for upgrades and patching (e.g. blue/green)
o Event management and routing
o Inventory, capacity and billing/tag management
• Supports operational governance with tools, processes and frameworks that drive efficiency in automation, monitoring and management of large scale environments.
• Utilizes instrumentation and metrics to improve operational processes and availability; continuously manages, monitors, and evaluates performance; manages metrics and log collection, aggregation, correlation and visualization of data. Analyzes and identifies data trends to drive efficiency.
• Collaborates with Platform Engineering Lead to deploy solutions that support Platform vision and strategy.
• Implements standard practices that ensure operational excellence; drives best practices and high standards of delivery.
• Assists product engineers, solution architects, and application architects in deploying scalable, highly available, secure, cost-effective solutions that leverage cloud services.
• May provide technical coaching and mentoring to others on project teams to accelerate Platform learning and adoption across the organization.
• Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience. One or more of the following certifications is desirable: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator Experience: 5+ year of experience working with AWS or other (GCP or Azure) cloud based solutions. 3+ years experience with Kubernetes, pipeline orchestration and IaC. Experience with technical writing and configuration management.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Experience deploying, and maintaining AWS or other major cloud provider infrastructure in support of third-party SaaS solutions integrations and custom built enterprise applications
• Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies and workload transition challenges
• Knowledge of AWS or other leading cloud provider (GCP/Azure), Kubernetes and cloud migration best practices
• Technical writing skills for documenting environments and procedures
• Experience with CI/CD platforms using declarative configuration such as CircleCI, Jenkins, Gitlab, GitHub Actions Etc.
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as: Chef, Jenkins, Puppet and Ansible is a plus
• Experience with test-driven development frameworks for application and infrastructure code
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment technologies
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code solutions such as terraform, cloud formation etc
• Experience with orchestration template technologies such as Helm
• Extensive experience with Observability tooling like DataDog, New Relic, Dynatrace etc. to support monitoring, telemetry, logging, reporting/dashboarding and continuous delivery technologies
• Demonstrated ability in deploying and maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery processes
• Understanding of automation practices throughout the build, test and deployment phases and infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Yaml)
• Hands on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience with a Cloud focus
• Participate in discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation

The range for this position is $135,400 - $189,600 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
