The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
The Critical Infrastructure Group (CIG) within JOID provides technical, programmatic and analytical support to customers with missions in national security to include the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Group brings technical and operational expertise in fields of countering weapons of mass destruction, critical infrastructure protection, emergency response, nuclear non-proliferation, weapons deployment programs, and transportation safety. In addition to management and advisory services, CIG staff collaborate closely with our clients to provide high-quality modeling, simulation, software, and analytical products to meet the most demanding government standards and timelines.
We have a near-term need for a Sr. Modeling & Simulation Analyst to provide support to DHS Customs and Border Protection (CBP) customers located in Washington, DC. This position allows for a hybrid work schedule.
ResponsibilitiesThe candidate will lead and support systems analysis and evaluation using a variety of quantitative, qualitative, and modeling and simulation-based approaches. The candidate will work collaboratively to conduct modeling, simulation, data analysis, data analytics, and data visualization to prototype, develop, and employ a variety of analytic tools and simulations that capture the performance of DHS systems in support of CBP Customers.
The candidate will lead the development, implementation, and review of decision-making work products and artifacts and provide defensible analyses. They will support the improvement of CBP Modeling, Simulation, Analysis and Visualization policies, processes, procedures, and best practices. They will plan and execute Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) activities in accordance with CBP policy and process and provide M&S Laboratory technology refresh and upgrade recommendations.
Required:
U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and retain a DHS Suitability and/or CBP Background Investigation.Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience providing systems analysis & evaluation and modeling & simulation expertise in a Federal acquisition environment (preferably at a DHS Component).Demonstrated expertise using Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and/or analytic software applications to solve complex problems to support acquisitions and sustainment.Desired:
Active CBP Background Investigation/Suitability and Top Secret clearance.Possess understanding of the DHS or DoD SELC and DHS Management Directive 102-01, DoD 5000, and Federal Acquisition Institute guidelines and acquisition support for complex system acquisitions.Digital Engineering (DE) and Model-Based System Engineering experience.Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Salary transparency pay range for the Washington DC area: $115-141K.
