Role Overview:
As a Senior Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the operation and upkeep of our fully automated distribution center, which includes advanced systems such as Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), conveyors, scanning zones, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Your role will focus on ensuring optimal performance and reliability of all automated equipment and infrastructure, while implementing lean process improvements. You will lead a team of maintenance professionals and collaborate with vendors to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the day-to-day maintenance operations of a highly automated distribution center, including ASRS, conveyors, scanning systems, and PLCs.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the uptime and performance of automated systems and facility equipment.
Manage and monitor repair schedules, safety inspections, and troubleshooting processes for all systems.
Collaborate with external vendors, service providers, and suppliers for equipment maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
Estimate and quote labor, materials, and other costs for equipment repairs, facility upgrades, and maintenance projects, ensuring cost-efficiency.
Create, implement and drive energy, gas, HVAC consumption reduction strategies and tactics.
Manage and reduce all type of waste generated from the building’s operations.
Implement lean process improvements to streamline maintenance workflows and optimize system performance, reducing operational downtime.
Partner with all correspondent stakeholders within the company and other buildings in order to achieve best in class facility operations.
Be on-call at all hours of operations when systems go down to help resolve and logon to the resolution calls with the vendors and company’s tech and operations teams.
Ensure all facilities and equipment meet the required safety and environmental standards and oversee adherence to building codes.
Recommend and implement upgrades to facility systems to improve energy efficiency and reduce resource consumption.
Analyze maintenance and operational data to drive continuous improvement and enhance the reliability and longevity of equipment.
Oversee and manage the internal facilities team, as well as specialized outside contractors, to perform tasks such as electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance.
What You Bring to the Role:
Strong experience managing fully automated systems (ASRS, conveyors, PLCs, etc.) in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
Proven expertise in lean process improvement, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and reducing system downtime.
Ability to manage a team of experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments, while providing clear goals and objectives.
Expertise in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting complex issues, and optimizing performance of advanced machinery.
Ability to make strategic decisions to balance day-to-day operational challenges and long-term maintenance planning.
Experience collaborating with vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive improvements in operational efficiency and reliability.
Continuous learning mentality to have the capacity to absorb and learn new processes and systems and be always updated with the latest industry knowledge.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Management or industrial technical training with electro-mechanical systems.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in maintenance management, with at least 4 years of hands-on experience in an automated environment.
At least 3 years of leadership experience managing maintenance teams in a distribution or manufacturing facility.
Strong knowledge of lean process improvement methodologies and automation technologies.
Technically proficient with highly automated distribution center material handling systems both mechanical and electrical.
Ability to review and critique facility, conveyor systems, and schematic diagrams.
Knowledge of automation and robotics to do basic trouble shooting or coordinate with external programmer when necessary.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC, MHE, HVAC, life safety, and facilities infrastructure
Experience with automation technologies, WCS, WES, HMI, PLCs, RF/camera scanners, conveyance, and measurement methods employed in high-volume automation.
Background and knowledge in fulfillment automation applications such as OPEX Perfect Pick, AutoStore, or other GTP systems, autonomous movement (AGVs & AMRs), ASRS systems, print & apply, Packsize, or other packaging automation.
Fundamental understanding of the various Engineering disciplines; Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering
Core competency in managing projects, project, automation implementation, OEE and improving throughput, problem solving, creative thinking, communications, influencing, and respecting multiple opinions / solutions to a problem.

The ranges above reflect the potential annual base pay across the U.S. for all roles; the applicable base pay range will depend on the candidate’s primary work location, pay grade, and variable compensation plan. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time of hire. New hires starting base pay generally falls in the bottom half (between the minimum and midpoint) of a pay range.
