About the team and the role:

As the Senior Manager of Corporate Communications at eBay, you will play a crucial role in Crisis Management and Financial Communications! This exciting opportunity involves managing and enhancing eBay's reputation by developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies related to financial performance and crisis situations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial communications, crisis management, and media relations, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

To be successful in this role, you must be self-motivated and independent, but also a strong collaborator able to work effectively with both remote and onsite colleagues. This person will have savvy interpersonal skills and strong experience working with journalists. You will be calm under pressure and be able to analyze a situation and make sound recommendations. You will be able to demonstrate strong direct ownership of the programs you’ve run, the ability to earn the trust of internal and external stakeholders, and a history of developing, pitching, preventing and securing high-impact media coverage.

This role reports directly to the Director of Corporate Communications!

What you will accomplish:

Collaborate with Investor Relations, Legal, and Government Relations teams on financial and crisis communications.

Support the earnings process by creating messaging materials and preparing Q&A, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in partnership with Legal and Finance teams, and working with communication agencies to analyze media coverage and assess reputational risk and make recommendations

Develop and maintain crisis communication response plans, protocols and tools, ensuring the organization is prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to any situation.

Prepare executives for media interactions, developing crisis communication plans, and driving improvements in communication strategies by staying updated on industry trends.

What you will bring:

10+ in corporate communications, specializing in crisis and financial communications.

Proven expertise in media relations, supported by a well-established network of journalist contacts.

Extensive experience in both in-house and public relations agency settings.

Strong history of successful collaboration with cross-functional and agency teams.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.

Excellent critical thinking skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, with a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Willingness to work in a hybrid model, with three days per week based in our San Jose office.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$148,400 - $222,750

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
