This team's geographic scope covers all PetSmart brick-and-mortar stores in the U.S. as well as the promotional activities for products sold on PetSmart.com. The primary focus areas include: Base Price Management Promotional Efficiency Markdown Optimization Renowned for their analytical expertise, the Pricing Team excels across various analytical platforms, including MicroStrategy, Power BI, Alteryx, and direct SQL. They take great pride in being subject matter experts and delivering actionable insights to drive business success. About the Location Hybrid Position: This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. About the Job About the Senior Manager, Promotions, Reporting and Analytics Position This position is a critical, high visibility role within the pricing team, responsible for the following key functions: Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of (2) direct reports, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Promotional Optimization: Oversee the development, management, and training of team members on a comprehensive promotional optimization tool to forecast future promotional activities. Promotional Analysis: Direct the management of databases to analyze each division's promotional strategy, comparing actuals to forecasts, assigning performance grades at various levels, and providing go-forward recommendations based on results. Promo Advisor Launch & Support: Lead the rollout of a cutting-edge promotional optimization tool. Facilitate discussions, provide ongoing support, and serve as the primary cross-functional thought leader for the tool. Ad Hoc Analytical Support: Provide timely in-depth analysis to support business needs. Risk Identification: Identify and mitigate potential financial risks associated with promotional strategies. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with IT, Planning, Merchandising, and other departments to achieve company objectives. Process and Tool Optimization: Continuously improve processes, tools, and dashboards to enhance efficiency and drive actionable insights. Innovation and Problem Solving: Act as an agent of change, proposing creative solutions to complex challenges. Leadership in Special Projects: Lead special projects, collaborating with cross-functional partners that drive growth. Core Competencies Experience: 5-7 years of experience with data management and dashboard creation using tools like Excel, Power BI, and Tableau. Analytical Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a creative approach to resolving complex issues. Data Interpretation: Expertise in translating data into compelling narratives and effectively communicating insights across all organizational levels. Bias for Action: Highly proactive and decisive, capable of swiftly taking initiative and driving projects forward in a fast-paced retail environment. Navigating Ambiguity: Skilled at proposing innovative solutions in uncertain situations and adapting to change with agility. Teaching and Enthusiasm: Passionate about educating others in analytics and research and recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in technical disciplines. Minimum Qualifications Education: BS degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or an Analytical Field (Statistics, Applied Mathematics, etc.). MS preferred. Proven equivalent experience is also acceptable. Management Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing direct reports (or indirectly managing), including mentoring, performance evaluation, and fostering team development. Technical Skills Excel and Microsoft Office Suite: Highly proficient in Excel and the entire Microsoft Office Suite. Promotional Principles: Working knowledge of advanced promotional principles. Retail/CPG Knowledge: Solid understanding of retail/CPG product hierarchies and database structures. Data Platform and Tools: Familiarity with SQL, MicroStrategy, Alteryx, Project Management, or Technical Product Management is a plus.
