**What you'll be doing**
The Sr. Manager, Country Risk Analysis looks at evolving trends in the macroeconomic, geopolitical, socioeconomic, financial, technological, legal and regulatory environment that have a material impact on the risk and opportunity profile for CIBC businesses in countries where limits have been established and those that are regarded to be of importance to the Bank’s portfolio.
Analysts at this level provide technical and professional advice/guidance on complex country-specific economic issues as well as global macro-economic trends and developments. The creativity, innovation and lateral thinking to analyze and develop new approaches and solutions as rapid globalization challenges conventional economic models are very important aspects of the job.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. **How you'll succeed**
+ **Country Risk-** Provide input into the development, identification, monitoring and control of the Country Risk Process. Maintain a near “real time” risk profile for approximately 100 countries where Country limits have been established. Present rating recommendations, including supporting rationale, for assigned Countries to the Country Risk Rating Committee. Maintain an active surveillance list of Countries deemed to have a high probability of rating downgrade. Contribute to the designing, development and maintenance of a predictive model for Countries that do not carry an external rating.
+ **Stakeholder Management-** Partner with business and risk partners to limit losses arising from Country risk including implementation of appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Play a key role in the management of the end to end Country risk rating process that includes maintenance and/or monitoring of data integrity, including communication of any rating changes to internal business and risk partners in a timely manner.
+ **Monitor Compliance-** Monitor compliance with and/or exceptions to obligor default ratings caused by Country risk overrides. Provide input/assistance to develop other risk indicators related to country risk like ESG and AML Act as back up for country limit excess monitoring.
**Who you are**
+ **You can demonstrate experience-** Extensive knowledge of the various analysis and interpretive methodologies used by external rating agencies and the ability to research, analyze and interpret this information in order to reach appropriate Country risk rating conclusions. The knowledge of risk management principles, the factors that contribute to risk and the ability to mitigate risk, particularly in a Country context.
+ **You have strong communication skills-** Well developed writing skills are required in order to convey complex risk issues in a brief and comprehensive fashion. Highly developed interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to respond quickly to developments (ie, political changes, currency crises) in order to modify outlook and to advise executives.
+ **You are certified-** Graduate Degree in international economics and/or related discipline and/or at least 5 years of related work experience.
