Sr. Financial Analyst
What You'll Do As a Financial Analyst at Avalara you will report to Director, Strategy and Planning. You'll be responsible for analyzing and interpreting financial data to support our business. You'll work closely within our finance team to develop financial forecasts and budgets, evaluate the financial impact of potential business initiatives, and conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support business decisions. You'll be a key player in driving strategic business decisions and ensuring the financial health of the company. Responsibilities may include: Assist in building or maintaining financial models to support strategic business decisions, evaluate business initiatives, conduct sensitivity analysis and scenario planning to assess the impact of various factors on financial outcomes Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets for the company Prepare and distribute regular financial reports to provide visibility into key financial metrics and performance indicators. Identify trends and explain variances. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, marketing, and other G&A functions to provide financial support and analysis. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business drivers, explain variances, and provide actionable recommendations Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support business decisions Evaluate the financial impact of potential business initiatives and investments Assisting with the preparation of materials for board meetings and investor presentations Identifying opportunities for process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and accuracy Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in finance What You'll Need to be Successful A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field 5+ years of experience in financial analysis or a related field Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modelling Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and communicate insights effectively. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and present findings in a clear and concise manner. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
