Sr. Financial Analyst, IT (Remote)

The Senior Financial Analyst, IT supports the DBI Information Technology department and collaborates with key stakeholders to manage financial budgets/projections and enhance overall financial oversight. This position plays a crucial role in optimizing financial processes within the IT department while fostering a culture of effective budget management. The Senior Financial Analyst works closely with accounting, procurement, and finance departments to ensure adherence to enterprise processes and frameworks, particularly month-end close and bi-weekly projection processes.

 

Reports To: Sr Director, IT Administration and Corporate Systems Development

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the annual budget and bi-weekly projection processes for IT expenses and capital expenditures, analyzing and communicating variances to IT and Finance leadership. Represent IT in finance leadership ceremonies to provide financial insights, drive the resolution of departmental financial risks and opportunities, and ensure alignment with budget and projection metrics. Collaborate with the Accounting department on month-end close and related processes, ensuring accurate capitalization of IT labor and precise tracking of prepaid and accrued IT expenses. Work with Accounting, Procurement, and IT Leadership to ensure proper IT project classification and adherence to cloud computing accounting rules. Manage the IT purchase order request process, ensuring appropriate categorization/accounting and alignment with financial projections. Manage the month-end purchase order receipt process to ensure appropriate accruals. Oversee the IT capital project request/entry process, ensuring alignment with financial projections and cloud computing accounting standards. Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and standards that align with organizational objectives, enhance operational excellence, and promote effective budget management and continuous improvement within the IT department. Shape and manage processes, tools, ceremonies, artifacts, and decision-making frameworks that facilitate the prioritization, sequencing, and financial projection of technology initiatives. Develop effective and collaborative relationships with functional business partners, identifying key opportunities, and communicating actionable analysis. Provide standard and ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support effective leadership decision-making.

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

IT financial management experience, including the management of departmental budgets and forecasts, as well as familiarity with accounting principles pertaining to capitalization and cloud computing accounting standards. Demonstrated relationship management skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of personnel. Strong consultative skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders on a matrix basis, provide thought leadership, and influence decision-making processes. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including experience creating compelling presentations for various audiences, including the Board of Directors. Experience creating highly visualized reports is also desirable. Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to make informed decisions. Ability to facilitate conflict resolution and manage conflicts appropriately while maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Action-oriented with a high tolerance for ambiguity, able to adapt to changing situations and drive results. Ability to coordinate and lead groups of people with different objectives and backgrounds from multiple functional areas. Familiarity with IT project management methodologies and business analysis frameworks. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to identify and solve complex problems in a timely and effective manner. Excellent Excel/financial modeling skills are required, with at least basic knowledge of PowerPoint and Word.

 

Qualifications

Experience: 

Minimum of 3-5 years’ work experience in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on accounting and/or financial management. Experience in IT financial management and the optimization of related processes preferred. Experience in the retail industry preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Oracle Finance/GL packages is valued but not required (Oracle EPM / Smart View, Oracle Fusion ERP). Experience with Cloud computing accounting standards

 

Education:

Undergraduate (B.S./B.A.) degree is required with a preference for quantitative majors (Accounting, Finance, Economics, etc.).
