The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide mechanical engineering expertise to the Enterprise Capital Engineering, Mill Sustaining team, and will provide process engineering support to the NA Tissue Value Stream organization. This role will provide capital project leadership and support in the development, layout, design, installation, and start-up of equipment and ancillary systems to address capacity, capability, innovation, safety, and obsolescence needs for the NA Tissue Value Stream. Additionally, you will be expected to collaborate across the Supply Chain, R&E, Procurement, tissue mill sites, key OEM equipment suppliers, technical service providers, and construction contractor networks.

Reports to the Engineering Manager: Mill Sustaining Capital, in the Enterprise Capital Engineering TeamInteracts frequently within various segments of the Tissue Value Stream organization as well as Mill Operating Teams, Staff Manufacturing, Research & Engineering (R&E), Planning, Distribution, and Procurement.Receives project assignments from the Capital and Senior Capital Managers. May flow to work as needed across the NA Tissue Value Stream.In this role, you will:
Drive the development and execution of capital projects through the use of the KC NA Project Management Practices (PMP) process as projects are assigned.Provide leadership by example in safety, ethics, quality, regulatory, and sustainability, and ensure that all elements of the corporate Human Resources Development and Diversity policy are fully supported.Coach and mentor team members to increase technical understanding and ability to execute programs to improve Family Care’s business results.Effectively collaborate with a cross-functional team that includes R&E, Supply Chain, mill operations, procurement, equipment suppliers and external service providers. Maintain technical and scientific expertise in an area of technology and communicate impact of developments on Kimberly-Clark. This may include serving as a User Group lead in a specific area of technology or skill to drive learning as well as strategy for future projects/initiatives.Maintain technical and scientific expertise in an area of technology and communicate impact of developments on Kimberly-Clark.Prepare and implement unit budgets and schedules. A Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline (e.g. Science or Engineering related)10+ years of related technical experience in mill, production or staff R&E environments. Preferred candidate has paper experience, ideally subject matter expertise in tissue machine and/or converting operations. Key technology areas include:TM - Stock Prep, wastewater, Chemical handling, Utilities, and Tissue machine operations.Converting - Unwinding, rewinding, calendaring, coating, folding, cutting, conveying, wrapping, bundling, cartoning, casepacking, and palletizing.Airlaid technologies and processesDemonstrated proficiency with the following Mechanical Engineering competencies:Machine/Prototype Design Engineering Economics Stress Analysis Dynamic SystemsHeat Transfer/Thermodynamics Computer Analysis/Simulation Fluid Mechanics Material ScienceProject Management AutoCAD, SolidWorksDemonstrated ability to teach technical core competencies.Strong fundamentals in engineering systems and tools in order to drive technical innovation.Proven ability to establish strong, effective cross-functional network at enterprise level.Strong verbal and written communication skills.The ability to adapt to rapidly changing business priorities and assignments.Demonstrated ability to work independently or to lead a team to complete projects within required timeframe and budget. The anticipated pay range for this job has a range of : $106,000 to $130,000

The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience.
