POSITION SUMMARY:Medscape is seeking a Senior Editor responsible for developing editorial content specific to Diabetes & Endocrinology and Nephrology. The Senior Editor will ensure that the information is clinically accurate, timely, and aligned with Medscape’s commitment to providing leading medical knowledge to physicians and healthcare professionals worldwide.Tasks include identifying potential studies and events that warrant coverage via reviewing specialty specific journals and other sources; assigning and editing news stories, feature articles, and opinion pieces; working with physician contributors and freelance medical writers and editors; networking to build a solid roster of expert contacts/sources in the specified specialties; and collaborating with the larger Editorial and Marketing teams. The person in this position must demonstrate a high level of editing skills and a strong understanding of healthcare and medicine. The ideal candidate must be able to multitask, as well as work both independently (under minimal supervision) and collaboratively in a team environment. The candidate must have good organizational ability, superb written and verbal communication skills, and an attention to detail. The ability to work well under pressure and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment is essential.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Assign and edit high-quality, engaging, and medically accurate content in Diabetes & Endocrinology and Nephrology, targeting a professional audience of physicians, ensuring coverage aligns with clinical practice needs. Coordinate and oversee the coverage of Diabetes & Endocrinology and Nephrology conferences, held in the United States and globally. Ensure content is thoroughly vetted for clinical accuracy, fairness, and clarity.Manage the editorial workflow from start to finish. Manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Collaborate with internal teams as part of strategic editorial planning.Continuously review key specialty journals. Monitor competing medical news outlets and information sources.Create, review, and approve specialty-specific newsletters.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field.3-5 years of editorial experience, preferably with a focus on medical or health journalism.Solid news judgment and a strong understanding of medical and healthcare fields.Experience editing news stories and features, translating complex medical information into clear, engaging articles for physicians and/or healthcare professionals.Ability to cultivate and manage a network of physician contributors and freelance medical writers and editors.Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and clinical rigor in published content.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in a CMS.Experience using analytics tools to track content performance and guide editorial decisions.Familiarity with digital storytelling techniques and various content formats, including videos, infographics, and interactive modules to enhance reader engagement.
