Sr. Director - Lilly Ventures Tech Platform Lead

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$162,000 - $237,600

In a company-wide effort to speed innovation to patients, Lilly Ventures leverages emerging external innovation to enable Lilly to influence and better understand the evolving healthcare ecosystem and the role of hardware and software in the context of Lilly’s prioritized therapeutic areas. This newly designed role will be primarily responsible for the value pull-through of strategic investments in innovative non-therapeutic start-ups as part of the Lilly Ventures Tech (LV Tech) portfolio. In addition, it will promote a team culture of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
 

This position on the LV Tech team will be responsible for:

Creating a world-class experience for LV Tech portfolio companies by facilitating introductions across Lilly and identifying ways Lilly can support them

Establishing and maintaining relationships with Lilly functional leaders who could partner with or advise LV Tech portfolio companies, facilitating introductions between Lilly leaders and LV Tech portfolio companies when needed

Supporting Lilly functional leaders and LV Tech portfolio companies in defining and executing pilot projects to demonstrate value of LV Tech portfolio company solutions

Organizing and reporting on unique insights from LV Tech portfolio companies to be shared with LV Tech leadership and other Lilly senior stakeholders

Managing pilot budgets to ensure they’re delivered on time and on budget

Solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business

Work within small team dynamics to advance multiple projects simultaneously

Coach and mentor team member(s) while building a strong team culture of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Basic Qualifications
 

Graduate degree (JD, MBA, MD, PhD) and 3+ years of experience, OR bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial, business development, alliance management, or drug R&D roles in healthcare or drug discovery and development. Recognized as an internal expert for area of expertise.

Business development, External Innovation or Alliance Management experience is a must.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
