How you will make an impact?The Senior Director Sustainability will lead the Company’s carbon reduction strategy. This involves collaborating with various teams to achieve carbon neutrality and waste reduction targets.
What you will do?Establish company-wide carbon reduction strategies, goals, and objectives, offering mentorship, support, and oversight to efforts and leading cross-functional colleagues to influence and drive carbon reduction results.Develop and implement management systems and procedures to ensure internal and counterparty compliance with Company’s standards and goals.Ensure that business units and divisions are familiar with Company’s commitments and obligations to ensure compliance with corporate standards.Design internal teams to support processes.Work in partnership with internal departments to assess suppliers, improve traceability of core materials, and implement processes and strategies for carbon reduction.Develop and maintain program budgets and schedules.Develop methodologies to assess the viability or success of initiatives. Monitor and evaluate the efficiency of carbon reduction programs.Develop external relationships with subject matter experts to increase the success of Company’s carbon reduction strategy.Assure compliance with the evolving regulatory environment regarding sustainability.Key Attributes:Strategy development – contributes to and influences business and supply chain strategy.Execution-focused – takes accountability for pulling strategy through to execution.Manages for performance – focuses on value and impact and leads a team to leverage metrics and analytics to ensure that activities are translating to quantifiable business impact.Committed - maintains a high-energy level and recognizes the importance of speed and agility in completing tasks within the designated areas of responsibility.Business insight - understanding of current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information impacting the business and organization.Effective in matrix environments – demonstrated success in achieving results in a highly matrixed business environment.Actively participates in developing direct reports and others, showing an interest in their career growth.Proactively identifies and resolves conflicts by finding common ground to benefit all involved.Building effective teams - can identify roles, jobs, tasks, objectives, and rewards and manages the team for the collective good. Effectively balances individual and team accountability.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, engineering, or supply chain. Master’s or equivalent experience in business (Preferred). (C.P.M. or CPSM certification (or equivalent) preferred.)Minimum of 15 years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, or operations with 5 years in a leadership role.Experience leading large, multi-national teams in a complex, matrixed environment.Experience in life sciences preferred.Demonstrated change leadership experience leading complex change in global organizations.Strong process orientation.Strong project management skills and understanding of the project management lifecycle.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical skills.Strong relationship-building skills.25% travel is required.At Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 125,000 outstanding minds have an unusual story to tell.
