Hopkins is located 7 miles west of Minneapolis, boasting natural surroundings in a suburban environment that also provides quick access to major travel ways and local restaurants that give our community a distinct character. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the VP Supply Chain Operations, the Sr Director of Supply Chain Capacity & Optimization is responsible for the leadership to provide effective and efficient supply chain processes to deliver the Michael Foods Customer Value Proposition. Responsibilities include S&OP leadership/coordination, long-term capacity planning and modeling, network optimization to maximize Service levels and deliver Productivity/Reliability, end-to-end supply chain data analysis and reporting, and new product commercialization. The role works closely with Supply/Demand Planning, Operations, Engineering, and Finance to develop capacity solutions for the network. The position acts as the key liaison between critical Supply Chain teams and Functional Department business teams. Participates as a key member of the Supply Chain Leadership Team. The successful candidate will lead a team of Product Capacity Managers as well as a Data Analytics group to ensure the successful strategy execution. The role requires a high proficiency in leadership and interpersonal skills, business processes and systems, data analysis and presentation skills, as well as an understanding of advanced supply chain methodologies. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Business Process Improvement: • Oversees the revision, creation, and installation of strategic and tactical plans that provide the direction and focus needed to successfully achieve our Customer Value Proposition through effective Supply Chain solutions. • Responsible for the leadership and development of the S&OP process including accountability for design and continuous improvement ensuring cross-functional engagement, ownership, and communication. • Works closely with the Director of Supply/Demand Planning to ensure seamless long-term capacity planning with short-term planning solutions to meet demand. • Establishes key routines and connection points to ensure connectivity with Supply Chain, R&D, Marketing, Finance, and Commercial departments. • Present to senior leadership the network, process and system improvements to drive Service, Reliability, and Productivity within Michael Foods. • Displays and articulates knowledge of advanced supply chain systems including planning, operations, warehousing, and distribution. • Work closely with the procurement teams to identify and harmonize end-to-end supply opportunities. • Thorough knowledge of company data systems with the ability to query, assimilate, evaluate, organize, and present opportunities for improvement. Capacity Planning and Network Optimization: • Develop and implement robust capacity planning strategies to ensure the company can Service current and future customer needs. • Improve the Michael Foods manufacturing network to optimize the end-to-end product supply through total delivered cost efficiencies and sustaining Service levels. • Identify and implement best practices for network design and management, including the optimal placement of production. • Understand and ensure critical Human and Food Safety requirements are met in the network design and implementation strategies. • Coordinate with the Directors of Operations to ensure alignment and effective implementation of manufacturing strategies. • Work closely with the Sr Director of Supply Chain to ensure seamless operations, warehousing, and distribution strategies and opportunities. • Manage and develop product categories to ensure successful long-term capacity planning in close coordination with supply/demand planning, marketing, R&D, and sales teams. • Ensure team conducts detailed analysis of data to forecast future capacity needs while taking into consideration raw material procurement strategies, seasonal variations, and market trends. • Identify and utilize advanced modeling techniques to simulate different scenarios and optimize long-term capacity planning. Commercialization: • Work closely with Marketing(owner), R&D, Operations, and Finance teams to successfully support execution of the stage-gate process for new product development and commercialization. • Identifies manufacturing and distribution platforms both internally and externally to support revenue growth for commercial and retail business teams. • Provides leadership for new product development ensuring an agile process, focused on aligned priorities from the business unit to maximize overall results. • Aids in identifying key suppliers to support the breadth of product offerings, supporting the business relationship to optimize the total cost, and when appropriate, reevaluate insourcing the capabilities. • Support the responsibilities for contract manufacturing relationships, including relationship with internal and external partner organizations. Asset Management and Enablement: • Identifies asset reconfiguration needs while creating and executing action plans to maintain sufficient redundancy and leveraging lowest landed cost information to optimize cost of production. • Works closely with Director of Engineering to ensure current and future asset needs are met to deliver customer demand. • Coordinates make vs buy activities with R&D, Marketing, and Operations to ensure successful short and long-term sourcing strategies are in place and executed. Continuous Improvement: • Coordinates with the cross-functional business teams to identify and implement enhancements to products and systems to maximize profitability and product quality goals. • Works closely with the Director of Continuous Improvement effective with identification of network/asset opportunities while ensuring activities are drive organic capacity growth and Productivity simultaneously. • Develops and assists in maintaining technical knowledge of plant manufacturing capabilities and processes. Collaboration: • Builds strong working relationships with all supporting functions and departments within Michael Foods. • Challenges the status quo while respecting the history and improvements made in the organization to enable growth and the Customer Value Proposition. • Develop working relationships with external partners, suppliers, and industry experts to promote the latest developments in Food Manufacturing and Supply Chain. Leadership and Team Development: • Supports succession planning and maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Identifies and develops personal growth opportunities for department employees. • Directs support staff; communicates job expectations; plans, monitors, and appraises job results; coaches, counsels, and holds employees accountable; initiates, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures. Reporting and Documentation: • Prepare and present regular reports on business process development, capacity planning, network optimization, and commercialization to Supply Chain and Senior Management. • Maintain accurate documentation of all activities, including metrics, action plans, and improvements. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university, preferably in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business. Masters degree a plus. • Ten or more years of related experience. Food manufacturing experience preferred. USDA/FSIS exposure is beneficial. • Excellent communication and listening skills, including the ability to effectively present information to all levels of the company from plant floor to executive leadership. • Previous experience in leadership of teams, managing manufacturing processes, tracking budget expenses, production planning, strategic planning, dealing with complexity, financial planning and strategy in a high-speed manufacturing environment. • Excellent interpersonal skills needed, including coaching, team-building and training. • Excellent time management and organization skills. • Strong attention to detail, problem solving, reasoning, and decision-making skills. • Ability to analyze performance data and financial variance trends is preferred. LOCATION AND TRAVEL: Due to its connectivity with multiple functional and department teams, the role is located in Hopkins, MN head office, however, allows for Hybrid working environment (residing in states: IA, KS, MI, MN, NE, and WI). Travel to site manufacturing and distribution locations is required up to 50% of the time.
