BGIS is looking for a Senior Data Center Technician to join the team in Las Vegas, NV.

The Senior Data Center Technician is responsible for advanced front-line support of IT and Network Infrastructure within the raised floor areas of the Data Center. Support services are provided for client to keep systems and associated data securely protected and available for business use. Support functions cover a wide range of activities related to installation, maintenance, and ongoing operations of cabinets, equipment, and communications services inside the Data Center.
Installations and Troubleshooting
Respond to scheduled and emergency dispatches to Data Center for after-hours service calls and security escorts. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Complete physical installation and power-up (Rack & Stack) of servers, peripherals, and network equipment. Complete physical installation, dressing and connection of fiber and copper communications cables. Provide visual inspection, status reporting, and power cycling services in response to client requests. Install and replacement services for hot-swappable or modular hardware components such as hard drives and power supplies. Deliver selected software support services such as controlled system reboots, process/service reinitialization, and device configuration under direction of customer specialists or other experienced team members. Meet client deadlines by completing assigned and scheduled tasks in a timely manner. Review site specific roles defined in detail via supplemental documentation provided at the Data Center. Implement details for specific work assignments, tasks, and procedures that are provided as required. Act as an escalation point for advanced troubleshooting issues. Coordinate with customers to review incoming project needs and provide installation requirements based on space, power, and cooling. Coordinate with onsite facility services to balance and ensure maximum raised floor cooling and airflow efficiencies are deployed. Inspect hardware installation and provide quality assurance reviews. Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.Documentation, Compliance and Safety
Receive, record, and store shipments of equipment and materials for clients and Data Center use. Document work in designated ticketing systems, asset management systems, and other record keeping systems as required for reference and audit purposes. Ensure compliance with business requirements via established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and other performance indicators (i.e., response time, resolution rate, service quality, client satisfaction) to ensure service levels are met. Walk through the Data Center during shifts, lifting servers and other equipment, working from ladders, running cables, working with hand tools, and testing equipment while completing physical work requirements of the position. Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Provide security escort services for carriers, service providers, and maintenance technicians.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum three years of experience with IT and networking systems, with exposure to technical and operations roles, in a Data Center environment or equivalent work experience. Minimum 1 Technical Certification or equivalent work experience. Experience with dynamic Colocation and Managed Services environments. Strong working knowledge of Data Center architectures and systems for raised floor space: equipment cabinets, containment solutions, final power distribution, computer systems, network systems, cabling systems, and communications circuits. Advanced understanding of Data Center core infrastructure (power, cooling, fire protection) and interactions with raised floor equipment standards. Ability to act with urgency to provide world class customer support. Positive approach to work in a team environment where diversity, knowledge transfer, and cohesiveness is promoted. Demonstrated solid understanding of network hardware equipment and TCP/IP networking principles.Proficiency with DCIM principles and applications. Ability to work collaboratively with customers, other team members, and other service providers to plan and execute tasks. Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain good relations with clients and other team members. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Skilled to work independently and with limited supervision to complete assigned tasks. High standards for quality, organization, and cleanliness with tasks, equipment, and workspaces. Advanced troubleshooting skills to investigate and resolve systems and infrastructure problems. Understanding of Data Center security and audit standards: HIPAA, ISO-27001, PCI, PWGSC, CSAE 3416, SSAE16, SOC 1 and SOC 2. Experience with computer server hardware systems running Windows or UNIX/Linux operating systems. Possess a minimum of one supplemental accreditation from established industry organizations such as Cisco (e.g. CCNA, CCNP), CompTIA (e.g., A+), Microsoft (e.g., MCSA, MCSE), Uptime Institute (e.g. AOS). Strong Proficiency with software tools such as Microsoft Office and Visio and AutoCAD.

Ability and willingness to travel regionally. Physical ability to walk jobsites in uneven terrain. Current valid driver’s license and ability to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office with reimbursement. Ability to work at heights preferred. BGIS is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. BGIS has different pay ranges for different work locations within the United States which allows us to pay team members competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location.
The salary range for this non-exempt position in the US is $30.50-$31.50 an hour.
A candidate’s salary offer is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, and location.
