PitchBook's News team is looking for a senior copy editor with impeccable attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and a great deal of enthusiasm for business and finance news, the written word, and teamwork. You will be responsible for editing, producing, and performing general quality assurance on PitchBook's newsletter and articles covering the private markets.

\n

 

\n

Primary Job Responsibilities:

\n\nHelp prioritize daily editing assignments across the copy editing team \nCollaborate with other editors to execute on PitchBook News’ content strategy and continue developing best practices for content production and publication \nEnforce editing standards across multiple content types and content management systems \nCopy edit and fact-check news articles for spelling, grammar, readability, accuracy and adherence to PitchBook style \nSupport the news team on developing and editing data visualizations \nTrain and help develop newer copy editors and early-career writers \nUse project management tools such as Asana to plan and execute publication processes \nHelp coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage placement of sponsored or PitchBook promotional content into the newsletter \nSupport the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors \nParticipate in various company initiatives and projects as requested \n\n

Skills and Qualifications:

\n\nBachelor’s degree\n3+ years of editing experience in a deadline-driven environment \nMeticulous attention to detail \nStrong written and verbal communication skills \nFamiliarity with financial markets, terminology, and content \nPrevious experience working with data or data-driven content \nPrevious experience working in a newsroom or a similar fast-paced, deadline-driven environment \nFamiliarity with online content management systems and basic project management software \nFamiliarity with Associated Press or in-house style guides \nProficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily \n\n

Compensation

\n\nAnnual base salary: $85,000-$105,000\nTarget annual bonus percentage: 10%\n\n

*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location. 

\n

 

\n

Working Conditions:

\n

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

\n

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
