Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a System Administrator to perform software builds, installation, configuration management, and troubleshooting on Air Traffic Control equipment. This is a large complex communications system vital to air traffic operations and safety. The System Administrator partners with multiple functional areas including Systems, Test, and Software Engineering for the purpose of software integrity and operational effectiveness. The position interfaces with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as contractor team members and is the point of contact to provide technical expertise on system administration and software configuration management. As the Senior Associate System Administration, you will be working to help support the global aviation community with advanced systems and services that significantly increase the safety, security and capacity of global air traffic management systems to meet the growing demand of air transportation operations.

Essential Functions:

Compile, build, and install software baselines for large telecommunications systems while ensuring system integrity and consistency. Research, design, and implement new software configuration management tools to automate processes to improve efficiencies and accuracy of the software builds and release of software baselines.Analyze and update server configuration settings for compatibility with system changes, interfaces, etc.Create and maintain Software Configuration documentation, including configuration management plans, software build procedures, baseline installation procedures, configuration specifications and audit reports.Provide support for COTS Software and assistance and technical solutions to computer and system anomalies.Participate in complete software development lifecycle of requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and problem resolutionSet up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, installs system-wide software, and contribute to the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), backup systems and disk configurations

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, System Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related area of study and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience in Systems Administration, Software Configuration Management, or a similar role; OR Graduate Degree in previously mentioned areas of study with 0-2 years of prior related experience in previously mentioned areas. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.Ability to acquire FAA public trust clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience with Revision Control/SCM Tools (such as SVN, git, github etc.), disk imaging software as well as Microsoft Visual Studio, GCC, or similar compilers.Experience with branching and merging of source code in revision control/SCM tools.Experience with issue tracking tool such as JIRA, Redmine or similar.Experience with software build and release process automation (such as Jenkins, Gerrit etc.).Prior experience of SharePoint administration and managementFamiliar with Microsoft Operating Systems and Linux based operating systems such as Redhat, CentOS etc.Prior experience in server configuration settings for compatability with system and interefaces.Prior experience and familiarity in SharePoint design, functions, and applications.Prior experience as a software developer or software engineer.Excellent understanding of computer applications and computer hardware.Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.Excellent organizational skillsExcellent oral and written communications skills Prior Customer Service experience a plusExperience with Microsoft Office Suite products.
