As a Senior Accountant your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: • Handle the processing and reconciliation of complex transactions, adhering to organizational policies and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations. • Monitor accounts and scrutinize accounting documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Federal, state, and organizational policies. • Review and approve journal entries, ensuring their accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and control practices. • Correct errors in accounting records and ledgers. • Ensure that accounting information is complete and accurate, verify the accuracy of supporting documentation, and report discrepancies and anomalies. • Compile data for reports, prepare and distribute operational and special reports, and identify and research accounting issues. • Address payables/receivables and documentation issues, provide customer services, and explain technical and financial information to external agencies and clients. • Assist departments with contract, funding, payment, accounting, and budget issues. • Collect, compile, and analyze data and summary reports on Public Housing programs. • Stay updated with technical issues in public housing policies and accounting procedures, maintaining absolute confidentiality of work-related issues. • Assist with annual and project budgets, and annual financial reports. Requirements The ideal Senior Accountant will have the following: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field • Minimum of two years of experience in a senior accountant role or similar position • Proficiency in Account Reconciliation • Expertise in Balance Sheet Reconciliation • Adept in performing Bank Reconciliations • Comprehensive knowledge of General Ledger management • Ability to prepare and manage Journal Entries • Experience in Month End Close procedures • Proficient in Microsoft Excel • Familiarity with NetSuite software • Proficiency in using Oracle software • Knowledge of SAP software • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment • Proven ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
