Overall Responsibilities:
Leads a team of Sales and Commercial Operations to drive profitable revenue growth in Illumina’s primary AMR channel to market. Builds and oversees the development and execution of regional commercial strategy, operating in alignment with global strategy. Focuses on customer satisfaction and increasing the value of the Illumina’s brand. Uses market knowledge and professional credibility to influence and shape Illumina’s ability to enable customers in all markets served with a special emphasis on the clinical market. 

The role reports to Illumina's Chief Commercial Officer. The successful candidate will be located onsite in San Diego, CA at Illumina headquarters; the position may be done remotely with additional travel requirements to HQ.


Detailed Accountabilities & Job Responsibilities

Understands and directs the correct organizational and market levers for catalyzing Illumina’s growth in the research and clinical markets. Uses and directs the efforts of Illumina’s market enabling functions (Market Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, and Regional Marketing) as appropriate. Ensures the rest of Illumina’s leadership is connected to emerging market dynamics.Works with closely global and other regional counterparts on critical strategic matters and business issues such as competitive positioning, new product launches, new product/solutions investments and governance for global customers that span regions.Is thoughtful about managing OpEx, cost of sales, and cost of customer support, and cultivates the right balance in spend and ROI in these areas.Build and sustains a high-performance culture. Identify, recruit and retain top-notch talent that will drive the company's success. Create a strong talent development culture that produces the outstanding talent needed to sustain a growing enterprise. Ensure a leadership team reporting to him/her that can do the same to ensure we are cultivating the breadth and depth of leadership talent needed.Ensure the organization is built with scalability and operational excellence in mind with planning across commercial. Productively drives change within region and cultivates followership in change initiatives.Lead the AMR organization with the utmost integrity, modeling professionalism and ethical business and personal conduct at all times to ensure a full company compliance culture and safeguard the interest of Illumina and its shareholders.Develops strong relationships with high value customer accounts to facilitate stable ongoing business partnerships.Ensures that customers are fully satisfied with their interaction with Illumina and are eager to enter into future transactions with Illumina.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

A strong leader with a proven track record in developing and executing the growth strategy, and leading/developing a growing organization.  Experience in the clinical market and/or life sciences sector. Experience in organizations that have developed clinical markets; experience in rapid growth clinical markets is highly preferred, as is experience specifically in clinical oncology markets. A combination of differently sized company experience that includes exposure to the best practices of successful large companies as well as experience operating in smaller companies. Capability to be hands-on if necessary, but also has the experience and insight to build a scalable organization.Strong knowledge on regulatory, market access, and compliance business environment in the clinical market.Demonstrated ability to drive execution excellence, and work under matrix organization.A history of successfully building performance cultures by recruiting, developing, and motivating well-rounded and effective teams that have gone on to demonstrate growth and success.Strong negotiation and problem resolution skills.Ability to effectively resolve organizational and interpersonal conflicts.Proven ability to direct high level negotiations.15+ years of experience in sales preferably including both experience with high growth revenues (high tech, bio field or life sciences) and organizations selling into clinical markets).Strong technical knowledge of Illumina's markets.

The estimated base salary range for the Sr Vice President & General Manager - Americas Region role based in the United States of America is: $322,300 - $483,500. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
