Overview
Develops and delivers job-specific training to PPL employees within the operations field. The job-specific training provided is intended to teach the theories, work procedures and practices, and tasks performed for a specific position. This position typically provides training to disciplines such as Transmission System Operators and Distribution System Operators and may include other support or related positions. Each Sr. Training & Development Professional – Operations position typically supports multiple disciplines. As a subject matter expert, this position also supports the organization's emergency response activities (e.g. Storm Restoration) and serves in an advisory capacity for equipment specification, procedural development, and investigations.
Responsibilities
+ Design, develop, and continually update instructor-led training using a Systems Approach to Training courses including: presentation materials, participant materials and handouts, instructor guide, skills building exercises, written exams, and performance examinations per the NERC, ISO-NE, and PJM standards and operating procedures.
+ Conduct or facilitate the delivery of instructor-led training using adult-learning principles and in a manner that promotes safe and effective performance on the job and encourages understanding and long-term retention.
+ Research, develop scenarios for, design, program, and execute simulations suitable for classroom or training lab use appropriate to support the hands-on portions of training delivery and assessment of student performance.
+ Evaluate participant performance and the effectiveness of training through administration of written and skill-based evaluations and through intentional observation of employee performance in the classroom and while performing skill-based training exercises. Provide feedback orally and in writing to the employees and management.
+ Serve as a consultant for internal customers in learning, process, and change management. Collaborate and foster a good relationship with the internal and external stakeholders.
+ Prepare and execute annual training schedules including: preparation of course schedule and participant schedule, coordination of communications, inventory and ordering of all materials and supplies necessary to support delivery, coordination with annual budget process, individual preparation, and the coordination of all supporting logistics.
+ Process accurate and timely training records as necessary to ensure that the company's tracking systems are current.
+ Perform emergency duties (e.g. Storm Assignment) and serves in an advisory capacity for equipment specification, procedural development, and investigations appropriate to the technical discipline for which the position will be providing training. Presence in the office/on-site to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
+ All positions in which driving is an essential function of the job, regardless if the job code is marked safety sensitive or not, will also be included as safety sensitive.
+ May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.
+ The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Qualifications
**Required Education:**
+ High School Diploma and 5 years system operations, utility industry or mechanical operations experience.
+ Associate’s degree and 3 years system operations, utility industry or mechanical operations experience.
+ Bachelor's Degree and 1 year system operations, utility industry or mechanical operations experience.
**Required Experience:**
+ Excellent presentation and communication skills.
+ Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel. Technically savvy with computers, mobile technology, and software.
**Licenses / Certifications / Other Qualifications:**
+ Qualified Distribution or Transmission System Operator with all appropriate training, certifications, qualifications, or licenses for the State in which he/she was qualified as a System Operator plus two (2) years of experience in Electrical Distribution System Operations.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience in programming and executing GE/Alstom simulators for the purposes of Transmission or Distribution training.
+ Instructor and/or instructional systems designer with experience (certification in instruction or instructional systems design a plus)
+ NERC and PJM Transmission Operator Certification.
+ Experience preparing written presentations, procedures, manuals, with very good written communication skills.
+ Experience conducting formal presentations and excellent facilitation skills.
