Location Name Columbus Corporate Headquarters ResponsibilitiesThe Sr. Systems Engineer position is responsible for deliverables in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) starting with scope definition and continuing through implementation and support. This key role is responsible for installation, configuration, engineering and management of complex application environments that may include multiple operating system platforms, languages, and network topologies.
This individual contributor will work with other IT developers, business users, IT infrastructure team members and external vendors (including our payment partners) to ensure that all deliverables are implement on time and satisfy all of the business requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in business requirement gathering meetings with business users to understand all aspects of the business (functionality, processes, technologies); determine feasibility of requests; identify best approach to provide technology solutions to meet business needs; provide detailed estimations (time, cost, resources); and then translate into technical specifications.Complete full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from design, flowcharting, development, testing and implementation. This includes strong integration with other systems. Must be able to provide recommendations for enterprise architecture.Provide support and troubleshooting for all related systems and technologies. This includes being a point of contact for business users. Participates in project lifecycle projects to understand business requirements and then complete the design, development, testing, implementation and post production support.Participates in discussions concerning innovative, cost effective ways to implement new technologies to lead in the evaluation of new products, platforms, and technologies leveraging best practices based on industry standards and lessons learnedWork with external vendors/partners through knowledge transfer to understand set up, configurations and design in order to provide on-going enhancements and support.Participates in system walk-throughs of technical and operational features, functions and attributes of a new or existing software package.Provides input on associate evaluations.Perform administrative functions in relation to project activities, project plans, technical specification development, status reports, issue reporting, etc.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
Education: Bahcelor’s Degree in Information Systems or an equivalent combination of course work and job experienceYears of Experience: 5-7+ years technical experience. Payment administration a plus5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle DB5+ years integration experienceTechnical expertise in required languages, operating systems, databases, development tools, networking, and/or software packagesRequires strong problem solving and communication skills to interpret issues and provide resolution. Must be able to coordinate with vendor for escalation of support related issues and translate functional specifications into technical specifications to provide low level details for development lifecycle.Ability to determine feasibility of business requests, estimate timelines and resources needed, and assist project manager with project planning.Participate in 24/7 on-call support activities
