Senior Software Engineer 2 – HCM

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer 2 to participate in the agile development scrum team designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting elegant, scalable and reliable software solutions for our customers. This is a fast-paced and exciting role that provides opportunities to work on many projects.
This role reports to Engineering Manager and works closely with Engineering, Architecture, Product, Customer Success, SaaSIO and Strategic Partners to deliver solutions that simplify the daily work life of the front line of education.
Responsibilities
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrate a passion for continuous learning and the ability to quickly grasp and apply new technologies and techniques to solve complex engineering challenges. Perform in-depth analysis and troubleshooting of intricate software constructs, fostering innovative solutions. Champion the adoption and implementation of best practices in coding standards and procedures, improving code quality across the team and organization. Lead the design, development, and implementation of sophisticated software components, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and maintainability. Construct comprehensive unit tests for complex algorithms, guaranteeing exceptional code quality and reliability.Collaboration and Communication Leadership:
Collaborate effectively with engineers on various teams, fostering knowledge sharing and cross-functional alignment. Lead and facilitate design reviews, ensuring clear communication and buy-in from both internal and external stakeholders on complex technical documentation and solution-level design sketches. Provide accurate high-level project estimates, contributing to effective project planning. Actively participate in functional requirements review meetings, collaborating with Product Owners to translate business needs into technical solutions.Teamwork and Mentorship:
Coach colleagues on effective time management techniques, fostering productivity and a healthy work-life balance within the team. Champion code maintainability, encouraging the team to write code that is not only functional but also easy to understand and modify in the long term. Play an active role in ensuring the team delivers on sprint commitments, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment. Lead and facilitate cross-functional meetings, ensuring clear communication and alignment across teams. Proactively communicate project status, roadblocks, and deliverables to key stakeholders, keeping them informed and engaged.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
Essential:
8+ years of experience in C# Software Development using .NET frameworks (4.5+, Core). Experience with design and development of REST APIs and SPAs to deliver multi-tenant SaaS solutions. Strong data modeling, index tuning, and query skills using RDBMSs (preferably PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (experience with MongoDB or DynamoDB a plus). Familiarity with an ORM such as Entity Framework. Experience with AWS cloud services like - EC2, IAM, S3, Lambda, SQS, CloudWatch, and CDK. Experience building distributed event-based systems and microservices. Experience with event bus or messaging platforms like Kafka or Kinesis. Experience in analyzing, debugging, and supporting production issues using debuggers and log analysis tools. Experience with Git and GitHub. Experience with Agile methodology, preferably Scrum Framework. Excellent oral and written communication skills.Preferred:
Understanding of caching theory and experience with caching technologies like Redis, ElastiCache, or DAX. Familiarity with DevOps principles, practices, and related technologies like TeamCity, Octopus, or Codefresh.
