Summary\:

 

This position is at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law. The Temple University Beasley School of Law is a top-ranked Law School whose mission is to advance excellence in and access to teaching, scholarship and service. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration, the Senior Legal Assistant provides high-level administrative and specialized support to an average of fifteen (15) designated faculty in their teaching, scholarly, practice/clinical, and professional activities. The Senior Legal Assistant provides administrative support for those faculty’s grant-funded activities, including but not limited to research, training, and programmatic activities. The incumbent will be responsible for booking travel for the faculty they support and the Law School’s in-house clinics. The incumbent provides administrative support to faculty’s student-facing activities, including but not limited to competition/moot court teams, textbook ordering, and student organizations, such as Temple 10Q Blog and Podcast. Student worker may be managed by this position.

The incumbent works with the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration on Pre-Award Activities for the Law School\: its programs, institutes, centers, clinics, other institutional initiatives, and individual faculty. They are the primary in creating eRA proposals and records for preliminary and final submissions, guiding faculty in necessary documents, informing faculty of required internal deadlines, and liaising with the Office of the Vice President for Research on pre-award matters. 

The incumbent works with Associate Deans on the monthly Faculty Newsletter by collecting and collating faculty activities, editing newsletter content, and producing an e-newsletter for internal distribution and use for external affairs purposes. The incumbent works with Associate Deans on the Law Review Tracker and ongoing submissions on the annual faculty summer research stipends application process.

 

Required Education & Experience\:

 

A bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred

 

·       Experience with Learning Management Systems, e.g., Canvas.

·       Administrative experience working in a law firm

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Required skills and abilities

·       Demonstrated experience in MS Office Suite, including high proficiency in Excel.

·       Experience with research administration systems, such as eRA.

·       Experience working with faculty and instructors on their educational, scholarly, and practice/clinical needs for online and in-person instruction.

·       Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

·       Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively interact with diverse students, faculty, and staff.

·       Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. Must have the ability to work independently on projects.

·       Commitments to establishing timelines and meeting deadlines. 

·       Ability to handle and secure confidential and sensitive information.

·       Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary.
