Responsibilities

*****This role will be filled as a Finance Analyst 2 or 3 level, based upon overall experience and education of the final candidate.

The Dignity Health MSO finance division currently manages 240k capitated lives within the California region. The responsibility for the Senior Financial Analyst includes monitoring monthly capitation revenue, preparing monthly P&L, and monitoring utilization usage for the market he/she manages. We are looking for candidates with healthcare finance experience and attention to detail. Knowledge of capitation and managed care is a plus. 

Position Summary:


The Finance Business Analyst will have the following responsibilities:

Month-end Close
- Prepares and posts monthly general ledger activity to the accounting system for all capitation arrangements across the System, including, but not limited to, premium revenue, stop-loss insurance, purchased services, incurred-but-not-reported (IBNR), administrative expenses and incentive-based revenue.


Revenue Tracking
- Coordinates the timely collection of monthly capitation premium payments and eligibility/revenue data from various payers. Analyzes membership data to ensure proper collection of payments from payer and works directly with the payer to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintains a summary report that provides key membership and revenue details, including impacts from retro-activity and other manual adjustments.


Financial Analysis/Performance Tracking
- Prepare monthly financial profit loss (P&L) statement and reports insights to stockholders during JOC meeting.
- Produces analytics by using business analytical/visualization systems to identify opportunities to improve performance.
- Develops standard management reports to evaluate the financial and utilization performance of capitated arrangements.
- Calculates surplus/deficit settlement amounts for risk-sharing arrangements based on specific contractual provisions.
- Organizes and maintains capitation contracts and agreements. Reviews existing/new contracts for financial implications and presents findings to management, ensuring proper inclusion within financial management reporting.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


- 3-7 years of industry experience working in a role such as financial analyst or business analyst requiring knowledge and management of finance business systems concepts and processes or 1-2 years of Dignity Health MSO experience as BA II.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance Computer Science Mathematics Management Information Systems or a closely related field required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio. Relational database management systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL. Advanced knowledge of statistical methodologies and techniques.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to present concepts, recommendations, and analyses to senior management in a clear, concise and actionable manner.
- Knowledge of data governance, data modeling, data integration and financial modeling.
- Ability to define problems, gather and analyze data, assess customer / market needs and requirements, reason, logically draw sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
- Knowledge of statistical methodologies and techniques.
- Experience in presenting content to all levels of staff and documenting definitions and standard value sets for performance metrics.
- Ability to perform more complex systems analysis and design, enhance and modify new and existing systems, write instructions, and train staff and users.
- Ability to identify issues and problems within operations, program systems, administrative activities and other relevant areas.

Preferred Qualifications:


- Understanding of Incurred but not reported (IBNR) within the claims/health plan environment preferred.
- Previous experience with Health Econ Analytics / Risk Pool Auditing preferred.

- Experience with managed care finance and capitation preferred.
- MBA/Masters Degree
