Position summary

T-Mobile is America’s supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Sr. Engineers, Software located in Frisco, TX will translate business and functional requirements into documented technical specifications or user stories and develop database solutions.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Communicate design, requirements, functionality, and limitations of systems/applications.

Utilize development skills to build (code) and unit test new systems functionality per technical specifications, with deliverables to include code builds and documented unit test results.

Identify and create/update support documentation as needed by the DevOps function and drive, monitor, and takes part in peer review to allow acceptance of system changes into production.

Direct, build and unit test production deployment packages.

Facilitate/lead reviews (walkthroughs) or grooming sessions and demos of technical specifications and program code with other members of the technical team, communicating design, requirements, feature set, functionality, and limitations of systems/applications to team and development lead.

Utilize product lifecycle methodology as a guide for development activities.

Provide on-call and after-hours support as required for production releases and to respond and provide active resolution support on production outages.

Contribute to and work to meet project schedules.

Maintain knowledge of existing technology documents.

Write basic documentation on how technology works.

Create clear documentation for new code and systems used.

Document systems designs, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration at the manager level.

Contribute to new and existing technology options that support business goals.

Understand implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.

Receive little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.

Implementing operations and maintenance procedures and troubleshooting across multiple platforms, including Snowflake, Teradata, Azure, Frameworks.

Designing and implementing relational database objects using Snowflake and Teradata.

Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.

Skill requirements:

(1) Designing and building systems including Teradata, Snowflake, Azure, BTEQ, SnowSQL, Azure, and Control M;

(2) Designing and developing Unix, ADF, and ETL/ELT frameworks;

(3) Conducting Data modeling using Power Designer; Data Profiling and Referential Data Management on Ataccama; Database design, Performance Tuning including Teradata, Snowflake, Azure, and SQL Server); and Report Development using PBI and Tableau;

(4) Working on Telecom and HR Data warehousing & metadata management (Collibra);

(5) Applying expert-level knowledge of CICD including Github, Gitlab, and Jenkins; and

(6) Applying expert-level of Security and Access Control Design including RLS implementation, Encryptions with Voltage and EKMES Active Directory, and Column Level Security.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Database Management, Data Science, or related field, and 3 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Database Management, Data Science, or related field, and 5 years of relevant work experience.
