Sr Director of Development, Health Sciences

The Senior Director of Development serves as a key strategic advisor and development professional for the Health Science Colleges. The Senior Director is a member of the fundraising team and is responsible for generating new and significant financial resources for the Health Science Colleges. Using best practices and supported by a research and analytics-driven advancement services team, this position will help expand the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors to fund college priorities and designated projects, major and planned gifts for Belmont University.

Primary position responsibilities:

Build, develop and manage a portfolio of philanthropic relationships at the major and principal gift level ranging from a minimum of $100k to $5M +. Coordinate and implement activities designed to increase prospect, alumni and donor engagement and secure philanthropic gifts in support of the university. In consultation with the Deans, prepare an annual business plan identifying annual funding initiatives for the Health Sciences Colleges.In conjunction with the AVP for Development of HS Colleges, be a strategic advisor to the HS Deans for all matters related to college-level advancement i.e. prospect engagement involving the dean, campaign planning, overall college fundraising, and advisory board management.Provide general management on behalf of the colleges to bring all available advancement related resources to deliver a comprehensive advancement program for the HS colleges, including annual, planned and parent giving, corporate and foundation relations, and alumni engagement. Manage the Associate Director of Development on the Health Sciences team. Providing guidance to the Associate Director on fundraising duties involving visit strategy, donor cultivation and asks, ensuring annual metrics are achieved.Use metrics to advise actions and strategies, maximizing fundraising effectiveness. Articulate the goals and priorities of the college and the campus through excellent informal and formal communications. Keep current on programs and initiatives that meet the university’s strategic objectives.
