Senior Director, IT - Analytical Instruments GroupAs a Senior Director of IT within our Analytical Instruments Group (AIG), you will drive transformative innovation, operational efficiency, and cross-functional technology alignment. Your leadership will directly influence AI-driven automation, portfolio optimization, and the seamless integration of IT services across multiple divisions. Act as the coordination point for activities across the Operating Divisions. Reporting to the Group IT Vice President this position is responsible for driving value production across the group through innovation, scaled Group functions, and coordination with our internal shared services teams.
What will you do:Innovation & Efficiency
Establish and lead an innovation hub, dedicating a portion of the portfolio budget to AI, automation, and novel new technologies.Deliver cost out improvements in the portfolio that directly impact the bottom line in coordination with the other Group and IT shared services leaders.Promote a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement, ensuring new ideas are tested, refined, and scaled effectively.Portfolio Management & Operational CadenceCoordinate the Group PMO, leading all aspects of the prioritization, allocation of resources, and implementation of technology initiatives across multiple divisions.Ensure strategic alignment and value realization of each project, maintaining a balanced and transparent portfolio.Establish an operational cadence (governance, reporting, and review cycles) that offers insight into performance, risks, and opportunities.Service Delivery & Infrastructure CoordinationCollaborate with shared services teams (infrastructure, information security, cloud, enterprise applications) to deliver high-quality, reliable services.Define and monitor service-level agreements (SLAs), taking proactive measures to address challenges and optimize performance.Serve as a reliable contact for internal collaborators, ensuring alignment between service capabilities and business needs.Data & Analytics LeadershipServe as the central champion for data governance, analytics capabilities, and advanced technologies (AI, machine learning, automation).Work with specialized analytics teams to implement data-driven strategies, tools, and processes that improve decision-making and operational efficiency.Ensure compliance with data standards and regulations while incorporating effective methods across the organization.Team Management & Cross-Functional CollaborationLead, mentor, and coach a team of Directors and Senior Managers, promoting an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued.Develop strategies across the Group to ensure our long term success.Foster strong, collaborative relationships with Division IT leaders, IT shared services leaders, and other key collaborators, aligning on priorities and strategic objectives.Communicate technology vision, progress, and challenges to executive leadership, using metrics and storytelling to demonstrate value.How will you get here:Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.Experience10+ years of progressive leadership in IT or related fields, with a proven record of driving innovation, service delivery, and portfolio management.Demonstrated success in implementing AI, automation, or similar new technologies for measurable business impact.Solid background in analytics strategies, process automation/integration, and delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects on time and within budget.Experience managing teams of Director- and Senior Manager-level professionals across diverse functions.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Executive presence and outstanding communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.Strong organizational change management and stakeholder engagement skills.A knack for finding value across our businesses using our unique technology and integration skills.Inclusive leadership style that values diverse perspectives and fosters a culture of continuous learning and growth.Strong business sense, seamlessly integrating technical solutions with strategic corporate objectives and financial considerations.Agile approach, capable of adapting to a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.At Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 122,000 extraordinary minds have a unique story to tell.
