**Hours of Work :** 40 **Days Of Week :** 5 **Work Shift :** 8X5 Day (United States of America) **Job Description :** **Senior Clinical Nurse Informaticist** **Overview** Under the oversight of the Vice President of Health Informatics, Nursing Informatics (SHI-NI) is responsible for the evaluation of nursing workflows and development of associated electronic health record functionality and clinical content with the goal of delivering evidence-based solutions to Methodist’s nursing departments. The SHI-NI is responsible for ongoing EHR content development, support and maintenance, and developing programs that hold nurses accountable for EHR workflows. The SHI-NI is responsible for supporting programs that effectively lead the organization through enterprise-wide EHR change management. The SHI-NI acts as a liaison between clinical nursing staff and the health informatics Epic Applications team, Clinical Data Management team, Epic Training team, and IT teams. The SHI-NI must be effective in managing multidisciplinary project teams in the planning, development, and implementation of EHR features and projects. The SHI-NI will collaborate with informatics project teams to offer support on prioritizing projects, setting expectations for implementation timelines, and ensuring end-user satisfaction and compliance with system defined workflows. **Responsibilities** Identifies, evaluates, and proposes new nursing informatics opportunities and uses data across the organization to meet clinical requirements Develops working relationships with nurses to promote development, adoption, and improvement of clinical processes to most effectively use the EHR system Works with clinical areas and applications teams to define project objectives, manage project timelines and priorities, assists with problem identification and resolution, and coordinates problem resolution training activities and communications Supports process reengineering efforts and promotes related training to nursing leaders and staff Supports the development of standard workflows, forms, data and reporting tools, and decision support rules that encourage evidence based best practice and standardized approach to clinical care among providers Collaborates with departments of informatics, data management, and IT on the development of reporting systems that allow data to be analyzed and benchmarked for effective outcomes, streamlined clinical processes, and improved quality of care. Utilizes data to drive process, workflow, and behavior changes Works collaboratively with nursing to support changes that will meaningfully improve patient safety and interdisciplinary communication both during hospitalization and transitions for care Supports efforts to improve functionality of the EHR for communication between nurses, physicians, and other clinicians Supports the introduction, validation, and implementation of clinical information systems with key stakeholders, and identifies support systems and pathways that will integrate these systems into the continuum of clinical episodes Collaborates closely with clinical and Epic training teams to initiate and/or assist with training of new functionality and provide training and system support during all Epic upgrades Keeps current and knowledgeable on the latest developments, advancements, and trends in clinical informatics and integrates that knowledge into current work practices Maintains knowledge and implements practical applications of rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact nursing. **Qualifications** **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in nursing, nursing informatics or healthcare business (MBA or MHA) with certification in healthcare/nursing informatics preferred RN License required, One or more of the following certifications preferred: project management, HIMSS, Lean Six Sigma Three or more years of clinical experience, three or more years of Epic EHR experience Certification in an Epic application is preferred but not required **Related Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills:** + A high level of analytical ability is required + Availability to travel occasionally, including to other hospital sites to conduct/attend meetings + Maintain professional approach in all situations + Maintains confidentiality of patient and business information + Very strong interpersonal skills to communicate with clinicians and other stakeholders + Long hours may be required for resolution of system issues impacting patient care; weekend availability may be expected for system upgrades, maintenance, or technical issues + Demonstrates experienced knowledge of change management principles and team work Methodist Health System is a faith-based organization with a mission to improve and save lives through compassionate, quality healthcare.
