EchoStar has an exciting opportunity Sr BD and Sales Director, 5G Solutions in our Hughes Network Systems Division to join our Defense Systems team in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Hughes is growing its 5G business in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence markets and is looking for a Senior Director to support its strategy and business development activities.

Hughes has been a pioneer and an early leader in 5G and Open RAN. These 5G solutions can be deployed in (1) military installation in the US and worldwide; (2) for expeditionary scenarios including marine and land-mobile platforms and forward bases; and (3) are interoperable with a state-of-the-art 5G ORAN commercial network.

Together with Hughes’ Network Management systems, Open RAN is an important part of Hughes’ growth in the US DOD.  These 5G solutions utilize open standards (ORAN) and offer security, management, and resilient wide area connectivity.  Enhanced with a resilient multi-orbit satellite communications component, both mission assurance and rapid deployment are explicitly baked into these 5G solutions.

The individual in this role will be responsible for developing Hughes’ 5G go-to-market strategy in the Enterprise and Tactical areas of the US DOD’s 5G plan, evaluating potential programs to pursue direct and indirect partners to support growth in this important segment of our business.

Responsibilities:

Lead Hughes’ business development initiative in the US DOD 5G growth segment developing new customers and partner relationships.Create a comprehensive territory plan to qualify high PWIN business opportunities both direct and indirect that complement Hughes’ global 5G strategyIdentify and develop both direct and indirect channel to marketing and associated teaming partners to drive revenue growth of Hughes 5G products and solutions.Drive all aspects of the capture strategy and execution process in pursuit of the 5G U.S DOD segment, including market analysis, creating a go-to-market strategy, identifying potential partners for collaboration, engaging partners and creating joint solution sets, and engaging partners on driving the sales activities.Ability to travel domestically up to 50%

Basic Requirements:

Must be capable of obtaining and holding a U.S. government security clearance at TS/SCI level.20 more years of strategy and/or business development experience in the Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Communities5 years of relevant work experience in the DoD Telecom and/or 5G market space.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering.MBA or other advanced degree.Experience building and delivering presentations to executive-level audiences and teams.Strong analytical skills and ability to take large amounts of data and synthesize into actionable recommendations.Curiosity and passion for the Technology, Media and Telecommunications sector(s) and the potential for new opportunities as technologies in 5G telecom carrier and enterprise markets.Demonstrated strategic thinking when presented with complex and ambiguous challenges.An eye for executive-level polish and meticulous attention to detail in all deliverables.Proven experience in complex global technology partnerships with proven track record of delivering revenue growth through partners.Proven cross-functional communication skills (verbal, written, visual) across multiple levels of a large, matrixed organization.

Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00

This position will have access to U.S. export-restricted materials. A successful candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or able to obtain U.S. authorization from the Dept. of State or the Dept. of Commerce to access such materials.
